Used to be GREAT...NO MORE,
By Bill B (NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tidy Cats Scoop Immediate Odor Control Formula (Misc.)
We have been using Tidy Cat clumpable litter for 9 years - it was great - no problems scooping out the clumps - they were solid.
For the past 6 or seven months, this has not been the case - it clumps, but into mud balls. It is near impossible to scoop a clump in one try, let alone two or three. The stuff turns to mud now, where it used to be scoopable balls. It also adheres to the liter box and is really difficult to scrape the "mud" off, to the point of the scoop bending in half. I am one of those product loyal consumers, but I don't know what they did to their formula and I cannot buy this stuff anymore. It almost seems like the granules of litter are smaller than they used to be and that's why it turns into mud. If they made a change for cost savings, I have to do the same and find another brand that works where I can get my money's worth. Bye Tidy Cat.

Immediate Odor Control better than Long Lasting Odor Control,
By
This review is from: Tidy Cats Scoop Immediate Odor Control Formula (Misc.)
I have 1 cat and I have found that the immediate odor control is better for eliminating odors than the long lasting odor control (which says it is designed for multiple cats)
This is a great litter for the price and I have tried a lot of them. Great clumping, great odor control, and most stores carry it in my area.

Best cat litter I have found,

I have tried several brands and formulas for kitty litter. This one is easily the best. Its easy to clean, clumps well, and most importantly prevents odor amazingly well. The odor is better with this than when I had an automatic litter machine.

The Best Cat Litter Available,

I have two cats and this is the BEST cat litter on the market...it controls odor...easy clumping...and it goes a long way!
I started the cats on this product as kittens...went to an automatic litter box (what a mistake that was and costly) and went right back to Tidy Cat! It is a great product...Highly recommended...

Doesn't clump at all - what happend?,
By Sherry in Texas (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tidy Cats Scoop Immediate Odor Control Formula (Misc.)
I have used Tidy cat for years. Over the past few months it just hasn't been clumping at all. It makes the urine a sludgy mass that sticks to the litter box. It's nearly impossible to scrape off of the box and I am tired of having to work so hard to clean it up.
Between the clumping issues and the ridiculous amount of packaging, I am done with this brand.

Horrible clumping,

Years ago i had a cat and this stuff worked great! Recently i got another cat and decided to try tidy cats again. While it does cover up the smell, it does not clump well at all. And it sticks to the box and turns into clay. Its horrible to try and clean up after. I switched to arm and hammer and that is working great. I'll never use tidy cats ever again!

Minimal dust, good odor control, passable clumping,
By
This review is from: Tidy Cats Scoop Immediate Odor Control Formula (Misc.)
Like the title says, this Tidy Cats formula keeps smells down and doesn't produce dust, but the clumps are crumbly and tend to fall apart if you're vigorous in scooping the box out. From what I can tell, all the Tidy Cat scoopable litters perform the same: premium, multiple-cats, immediate versus 24/7 odor control... these end up just being words on a box. I get whatever is cheap and available in bulk at the store, and can't really tell a difference. The other brands I've used produce a lot of dust and don't handle the smell, so I end up back with Tidy Cat.
That said, your mileage may vary. I use a jumbo litterbox for a single cat and fill it deep, but only scoop it out once a week. Probably not recommended, but neither the feline in question nor humans downwind have complained.

whoa, what happened?,

This review is from: Tidy Cats Scoop Immediate Odor Control Formula (Misc.)
This stuff used to be great, the best value for clumping litter on the market, especially if you bought it in the huge tubs. But in the last few months it seems like they've changed the formula and it doesn't clump anymore! The clumps fall apart if you touch them with the scoop. There's no point to buying clumping litter that doesn't clump. BAD MOVE, Tidy Cat!

Tidy,

Tidy cat clumps pee easily and leaves the area around the box with minimum grit from cat's paws. The biggest advantage I've seen over other brands tried, is that our cat pees inside the box instead of outside the box. The only "con" I have against the product is that it is dark in color and looks like dirt, but that could be more to the cat's advantage than to mine.

Clumps Start To Break Apart,
By Lady Action Fan (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tidy Cats Scoop Immediate Odor Control Formula (Misc.)
A few months ago, I decided to do my own independent testing of major clumping litters in search of one that would work best for my cats.
Methodology: 2 cats 4 litter boxes 1 month with daily scooping. Products tested (avg 20lbs per litter box): Tidy Cats Power Blend Tidy Cats Instant Action Arm and Hammer Super Scoop, Fresh Clean Scent Scoop Away Fresh Scent Results: Scoop Away won hands down at clumping even after a month. Where the others would eventually start to break apart into small pieces, Scoop Away, as the box describes, "clumps tight" and rarely did so. However, it loses a point for being dusty out of the box and its obnoxious perfumey smell. I could always tell when one of my cats had been to the little box. The perfume would waft behind them. Though, I suppose that was better than the alternative. Tidy Cats, my staple for years, had the least obtrusive odor and was the least dusty from the start. However it, never clumped as tightly as the others. After about a week and a half, the resulting clumps broke apart easily. The Power Blend (aka Premium Scoop) was a huge disappointment. It didn't perform anywhere near as well as the Instant Action (aka plain old Scoop). Its clumps started to break apart within days. Although not a part of this test, I've noticed in the past that Tidy Cats Small Spaces, another "Premium Scoop" also never performed as well the regular scoop. Arm & Hammer clumped well, but was perfumey and very dusty the entire time. Cats' opinion: None. They didn't seem to favor one over the other. |
