Tie-dye Party Kit Simply Spray Fabric Paint - Perfect for Kid's Outdoor Summer Parties

Early August I purchased a "Spray On Fabric Paint Kit" (item # SS3803000M, $28) from a local craft store. We were meeting family members from 3 separate households from across the country for a vacation together, during which we were going to create shirts to remember our week. I bought and washed cotton tote bags and several packages of various sized t-shirts, and foam letters for us to "write" words on our shirts.

Our plan, after reading the instructions, was to have all the shirts prepped and then paint them at once. We prepped many items with the foam letters and "tied" bunches into some shirts with rubber bands. It took over an hour for everyone to get their shirts ready. We were all enjoying ourselves, and even the youngest child (age 4) was having a great time.

When each of us had 2 or 3 items ready we began to paint. It took approximately 10 minutes and exactly 8 items before several of the paints stopped working. It seems as if there was not enough propellant in the cans. It was obvious there was still lots of paint left in the cans. Of the six cans, only the blue continued to work properly. A few of the colors shot out messy splatters if the trigger was pumped, but would not spray a diffuse continuous spray as they had started. At least two of the cans stopped working completely.

To say we were all incredibly disappointed is an understatement. After the anticipation (the kids helped with the item selections and purchases) and all the time and effort spent prepping their shirts, the children were quite upset to not be able to paint them. I assured them I would keep their prepped shirts in the hope we can complete this project (although, sadly, without the rest of the family).

I emailed the company and received a reply from Jodi at Deval Products. I was told I would receive a replacement. It has been over a month and several unanswered emails, and no replacement.

This kit was the BEST we did 22 shirts on one side, It went pretty far. We covered the shirts heavily. The kids loved it and it washed off their hands and the counters easily with windex. They got to take home somthing they made from the party to show their parent & they all wore them to school on the same day the next week FUN!

seriously, this product is great because I can spray it into a paper plate and paint freely (that goes a LONG way) with it or I can just spray it directly on the shirt....the nozzle was fine for us, you just have to shake it before you spray, i guess. i would definitely use this product again.

i have used this for both tie dying t-shirts and for painting lampshades. it is great. it takes a little getting used to at first. you have to read the directions before you spray. at first i used too much paint. the next time we used it we made more than 24 shirts.

you cannot feel the paint at all.

it was the only paint that i have found that works on lampshades well.

I wish I had a video to share. We used 3 kits for 60 kids and the t-shirts were the best batch I've seen in over 15 years of doing this camp activity. All spray must be done outdoors! I would not choose to use this in an indoor area even if "well ventilated"

this was really fun to do with the family! however it was dissapointing that while it says up to 24 shirts, we could only do about 10 if that.

This is a terrible product. The nozzle clogs even on brand new cans out of the package and there is no way to unclog them. If you do get a can to work, once you store it the rest will be wasted when the nozzle clogs. I even tried storing some submerged in water and they still clogged up.

Worked great for "dying" a dress shirt and pants. Next up is suit coat. Only problem is it doesn't last long. I used 4 cans for the pants and shirt, and they're still not perfect. I'm guessing the suit coat will take 3. At $5 dollars per, it's not a cheap option.

I've never really been into the whole tie-dye scene, so I never gave much thought to using fabric paints or dyes. But I have to tell you that you don't have to create tie-dyes only! This stuff is great for creating silhouettes and stenciled designs. My daughter and I are currently having a blast with this kit. So far we've created 2 t-shirts and three small canvas tote bags and still have enough paint left over for a few more projects.

the nozzles worked badly and either spattered thick spots or barely sprayed. it's been three days and any paint thick enough to be shiny stays tacky even thoough it's dry.

an expensive product bought to make stenciling easier turns out to be a complete disaster. results looks okay but i doubt i can get my friends to wear the shirts.

i made shirts as gifts for an english family visiting in new york. i don't think they're wearble!!!!
