Tied Up Tied Down,
By Kelly "Reviewer for The Sinfully Sensuous" (Littleton, Colorado) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tied Up, Tied Down: Rough Riders, Book 4 (Kindle Edition)
Skylar Ellison never planned on being a single parent, but when she found out that she was pregnant, and Kade McKay was down range on his family ranch until the following summer, that is exactly what she was for the first three months of her daughter's life. When Kade returned, and found out he was a father, he wanted to be there with Eliza Belle all the time. He told Sky he was moving in with them, so he could help her raise their daughter. Kade proposed, but she was having none of that, so he being a patient man, could wait her out.
As they settled into a semi normal routine, Kade found himself loving Eliza and Sky more every day. He never knew that he could feel so complete, so he proposed again only to be turned down once again. Sky has major control issues, and Kade was hoping a gentle touch would loosen her up, but found she held on tight. She was afraid, and since the gentle approach wasn't working, he decided to take control in the bedroom, and give her a push. He knew she wanted him, but he was looking for forever, and was afraid she wasn't. When Kade showed her the passion that could be explosive between them, she found herself falling for him all over again. When she was thrust into the limelight at the rodeo serving as a family reunion, she became aware of the close-knit unit they all made, and was remorse at not having one of her own. The loud boisterous group made her feel welcome, but she was feeling overwhelmed by all the attention. Kade and Sky made their escape as soon as possible, which made her, feel guilty, but Kade assured her that the three of them were now his family. He knew it would take her time to get to know everyone, and feel comfortable around his nosy intrusive bunch. Kade was dismayed to realize that even though he had forced Sky to lighten up in the bedroom, she still had tight control over everything else. When an intruder at her Sky Blue factory threatened the lives of everyone there, she and Kade had a monstrous fight about her obsessive need for control, and the fact that she put their daughters life in danger. He left shortly after leaving Sky to wonder if he would ever come back. She knew things had to change or she would lose the best thing that had ever happened to her. Kade and Skylar are a fascinating couple with so much love to give. Kade had spent his entire life feeling interchangeable with all the men in his family. Only Sky treated him as the special individual he is. Sky had been disappointed in love, and it frightened her how wonderful Kade was to she and Eliza. They had issues to work out, but the friendship, love, and physical chemistry between them was very hot. A great next installment to the Rough Riders series!!

Kade Is Definitely NOT His Brother, Kane,
By
This review is from: Tied Up, Tied Down (Rough Riders) (Paperback)
~*~**~~*~*~*~*
This is a HOT book!! Lorelei James has hit the nail on the head with this 4th book in the Rough Rider series. Kade is extremely accustomed to being confused with his identical twin brother, Kane, by any and everyone in the tri-county area. Well, his brother is a borderline womanizer, and one of these women, Skylar, decided to confront "Kane" for ditching her when she sees him in town. Yes, to make amends for what his brother did, Kade pretends to be Kane with Skylar, but he really does like her. This book is more than the sex scenes, it's an overall great story of someone who is used to people thinking he is someone else (and everything that goes along with that), pairing up with a very strong, independent woman who needs to learn how to trust ANYONE. Lorelei shows us that though the McKay family has a lot of similar characters, they are all very unique. There are moments in this story where Skylar treats Kade in a manner less than she should have and he just TAKES it! A real southern gentleman. Kade's relationship with his daughter, Eliza, is just precious. It's very hard to review this book, without giving away the story. If you mention one scene, you feel COMPELLED to mention another scene and then I have lost Lorelei all of her royalties, because I have went and told the whole story in my review. I read this story in just a few short hours last summer. I think this book has a very nice selection of action, mixed with family, romance, ranch life and love. Kade is one of my favorite West/McKay guys. He really is like the boy next door, lol! He gives Skylar exactly what she asks for, until that is not enough and Skylar puts a stop to it----------------and then the REAL fun begins! Great story!! Join the loreleijamesgang in the Yahoo! groups. Lorelei is very involved with her fans. Though this is the 4th book in the series, it is written in a way that it could be the first book, as you can keep up with everything. It does leave you wanting more, but in a good way. There are a lot of family members mentioned, that if you read the 3 books before, you would know their back story, but they are definitely just minor characters here, Lorelei does not leave you dry. For your enjoyment, you NEED to read Long Hard Ride (Rough Riders) ,Rode Hard, Put Up Wet (Rough Riders),Cowgirl Up and Ride (Rough Riders)---all out in hardcover, the rest of the books are in e-book still. Loreleijames.com is your best friend in this series. This family/really a CLAN ;-) has to be the best series I've read, next to the Harry Potter Septology, but Lorelei is definitely #1 in a class of her own. Definitely a keeper. Loved it in the e-book form I read last year, and I will be ordering now. ~*~**~~*~*~*~*

Kade and Sky ROCK THE HOUSE!,

This review is from: Tied Up, Tied Down (Rough Riders) (Paperback)
Lorelei James is one of the few authors that can create characters that seduce the reader as well as one another. She certainly has another hit on her hands with Tied Up, Tied Down. Kade and Sky take the complexities of their relationship to form a life long committment AFTER the baby is born. This author creates characters that are real, that are dealing with real life situations and still manage to have the 'happily ever after' ending to their story. Ms. James books allow us to view a situation that occurs in real life with just the right amount of spice and love. KUDOS Ms. James for another "smokin' hot" love story with just the right flavor of real life to make it believeable. If I wasn't already a fan, I would be after reading Tied Up, Tied Down.

This is the story of Skylar and Kade. Skylar is a business woman who starts dating a sexy cowboy. After having a date - they end up doing the wild thing in his pick up, after dinner, in the parking lot (it could happen). Skyar gets mad at Kade because she found out he was pretending to be his twin (still could happen). So Kade, broken hearted, leaves to work on a family ranch far away to get over Skylar. In the mean time Skylar finds out she is pregnant and decides to have the baby. After a year he returns home to find out that he is a daddy. And so the story starts....
I liked this book but for a different reasons than I thought I would. It was a sexy book but it wasn't as sexy as I thought it was going to be. I did like the romance in it and Kade was a hero in every way possible. Kade is the kind of man every woman prays to end up with and especially to have a child with!!!

Tied Up, Tied Down by Lorelei James,

This review is from: Tied Up, Tied Down (Rough Riders) (Paperback)
I think "Tied Up, Tied Down" might just be my favorite in Lorelei James' Rough Riders series. Yes, there's bondage, but it's so lovingly done and Kade is so careful with Skylar's fears and sexuality that it almost makes me want to grab a lasso myself!!
Skylar is ALWAYS in control. After losing both parents to cancer, she had to deal with an unstable sister who lived a self-destructive life via booze and drugs. At least here sister's clean now, and she and Skylar have both opened businesses in a small town in Wyoming and are doing well. She even had a boyfriend...well, she thought she did. Turned out the man she THOUGHT she was dating...was actually his twin. When she found out, she blew up and he blew outta town and she hasn't seen him since. But he did leave her a surprise...a baby! Kade McKay is glad to be back home after a year of living on a new, but isolated cattle camp. He's only been back a couple of days when he finds out about his daughter...and sets out to take care of HIS women. Skylar is resistant and afraid, but Kade IS a McKay after all, and he won't let anything stand in his way. He'll use every ounce of caring and love he has, including any sexual tricks he can think of, to tie Skylar and his child to him. This is one of the only Rough Riders' books that is solely M/F. It's also one of the softer and more touching because Kade doesn't fight his feelings and most of the book is about his thorough seduction of Skylar, both mentally and physically. The sex is still smokin', but the echoes of the love he feels for Skylar are always there. How can you not love that? There is, of course, ALOT of sex in this book and in 'comes' (heh heh) in a lot of varieties--oral, anal, vaginal, light BDSM, etc. So if graphic descriptions of the above sex acts aren't your thing, don't read the darn book! As for me? I loved it and it already sits on my keeper shelf. This is book four of the Rough Riders series and the next print release "Rough, Raw, and Ready" will be out in September 2009. Those who can't wait for the print versions, can zoom ahead of the 'print' groupies by buying the ebooks already available--at least two more than are available in print :(

Tied down and loving it!,

This review is from: Tied Up, Tied Down (Rough Riders) (Paperback)
Returning from months at an isolated job, Kade McKay is surprised to discover that his loved & lost lady - one Ms Skyler - has had a baby. So what's an honourable cowboy to do other than saddle up and take on the job of being the best dad he can. And if he can win back Skylar's love as well his family will be complete.
One of my favourite romance books - the story gives an affirmation that loving fathers exist (that he's a smokin' hot cowboy doesn't hurt either!) Definately recommended for the Romantic at heart. Well written believable characters - you'll want to know more about the McKay clan after just one read [see Lorelei's other books in this series]

A personal favorite! I love all the RR series books, but those of you who love romance, family, hot men, real life characters, cowboys, real women who live real lives this is a winner. But don't stop here, read all the RR books you can. And then be ready to want to reread them.

This is one of the greatest books I have read. I love how Kade is with his little girl and how the story is so wonderfully written. Lorelei James just gets better with each book she writes.

I am working my way through the Rough Riders series and enjoyed Tied Up, Tied down but found it to be a bit predictable right from the beginning. I did think Kade's naked rule was fresh and fun. This series really does need to be read in order as there are so many characters that continue (or are mentioned) from previous books. You almost need a chart to keep track of who's who. I found this to be a quick and light read that gets the reader ready for the next book in the series.

Wow! I did stay up all night to finish this one and my husband was "pleasantly surprised" when I woke him up for a little "cowboy play" immediately after. Needless to say I have his blessings to purchase the rest of the series..........
Skylar Ellison is a tough, in charge business woman. Who just happens to get "charmed off her feet" by a local cowboy, Kade McCay. He is part of a large ranching family made up of wild cowboys. The West/McKay clan have many good-looking boys in the family with rowdy cowboy reputations. Kade's naughty identical twin Kane (being one of the aforementioned )is the reason for Skylar's name calling attitude when she and Kade first meet. Kade seems to get this treatment from a lot of his brothers' conquests. That and he's always being lumped in with the rest of his kinfolk's good looking, "interchangeable" trouble-making boys. Wanting to make amends for Kane's behavior(and wanting to get to know this pretty little lady better) he naturally "assumes" his twin-brothers' identity, temporarily and not expecting it to go too much further. On their 12th date, SHE initiates a little unprotected sex in his pickup. Kade's guilt and growing affection for Skylar leads to a confession regarding his true identity. This really ticks Skylar off. She declares she never wants to see or hear from Kade again! Broken hearted and wanting to do some soul searching, he leaves for a year to ranch in the waaaayyyy, yonder-middle of nowhere-part of the family property. When Kade returns to find he has a daughter, he immediately charms his way back into Skylar's -and Eliza Belle's -lives, by moving in and assuming Daddy duties. He rekindles the spark between Skylar and him with the intentions of making it permanent. Skylar is a tough cookie and is a bit too stubborn for her own good. When Kade hits a snag-in his wooing plan he remembers Skylar's sister's advice, and "no pain no gain" hits home for him. The sexy, erotic loveplay that keeps these two lovers hot and horny for each other, (The reader too. "sigh") has alot of exciting & romantic -couple bonding- undertones. Not only is Kade one HOT Cowboy as the story progresses. You begin to feel he's a real honest-to-goodness "knight in shining armor" that you wouldn't mind finding for yourself or your daughter. You really root for this cowboy to win her affections. I enjoyed this for the witty Straight-shooting-Wyoming dialogue as well as the obviously "steamy" bedroom and beyond action. PS I have since instituted the "Nekked Rule" in my house. (When the kids are in school of course!) |
