1.0 out of 5 stars Tiempo Transcurrido: The Best of Cafe Tacuba
It arrived okay and in decent time. Unlistenable album without musical talent or balance. I threw it away. Juvenile production.

Cafe Tacuba have a kind of childish mood that may bother some people. If there is a basic story in their lyrics is about the problem of love among younsters, the simple desire for dance, and the weird aspects of love and reality. However, their strenght is their high quality as musicians. Mainly, what should be stressed is both their high capacity for styles mixture and their highly creative covers. They jump from "ranchera" to ska, or reagge , or trash , or disco. Their covers of "Ojalá que llueva café" (Juan Luis Guerra), "No controles" (Mecano) or "Cómo te extraño" (Leo Dan) demonstrate both their creativity and exploration over different kind of music. Tiempo transcurrido is probably the best example of all their "chamaleonistic" capacity. Undoubtely, one of the best recopilation in the rock en español era.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you were only going to buy one Café Tacuba CD..., February 10, 2002

...then this would give you the widest choice of material. Frankly, I would recommend that if you're going to get just one Café Tacuba album, you should strongly consider getting "Re" instead-- good as though the material compiled on this album is, it is a best-of, while "Re" is a mind-blowing, carefully put together album that has to be ranked as one of the best of the past decade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compilation, September 5, 2001
This review is from: Tiempo Transcurrido: The Best of Cafe Tacuba (Audio CD)
A really good compilation of more than 12 years of music, although it's not something the band thought about but merely a contractual request to finish the relationship with their record company they did pick not only the singles and hits but the songs that helped define their style through the chronology of the group.
Unless you have every album, this is a must for your collection. Cafe Tacuba is probably one of the groups which better integrates the folklore of mexican music into the rock in spanish scene.
¡Viva Mexico!

After years away from mexican music, finding this CD on a shelf at the local music franchise store(Tower), BLOWED ME AWAY. How this CD puts together every song I could have ever thought of buying from "los tacubos" is magnificent! Of course being the thrifty concious shopper I am, I came here where after searching for it, purchased it. If you are looking for a good, fun, artistic cultural sound that reflects mexican culture, you're in luck ! cause you just found it. I really don't care why this CD was put together, or why there's so many good songs on it ... I just have to say, THANK YOU ! two thumbs up, WAY UP !

5.0 out of 5 stars The rise of Hispanic rock, December 28, 2001

Clearly and hands down one of the most original groups to ride the now pretty matured alternative tidalwave : the vocals, the crazy lyrics, the originality in everything (listen to the instruments and objects used). I would have chosen a few different pieces for this compilation but a must, no doubt. And keep your eyes on them--they have done a lot already, they may have peaked (by the time the greatest hits come out, you know...) but they very well may not have peaked yet. No matter what, you MUST know Cafe Tacuba.

The "chilanga banda" will take you to both: top and bottom; back and fort;once and again, in just minutes,of your strings. So, that you will be able to manage your stress status to your convenience. Wouldn't be great to dump all negative thoughts and fellings without staining the brain walls?
Time, won't get rid of them, they're rid-in' on it!
What a band! this album is a time machine for me. Every note reminds me of a move I did good or bad, in a good sense of humor. U go roosters!
