5.0 out of 5 stars RAZA de la TIERRA
Like SANTANA and EL CHICANO, TIERRA is one of the few groups to maintain their creativity and vitality. GEMA, (from thier debut album-which I still have) was our wedding song, bringing tears to the eyes of the tios and tias. TIERRA, unlike MALO or AZTECA, was fortunate to have hits which made it to the airways, keeping thier influence alive for almost thirty years. Today...

2.0 out of 5 stars LLET DOWN -POTENTIAL
TIERRA and many other East LA Bands have and had such marvelous potential to make lasting impact in the world of music -- why is CRA---- oops RAP so dominant these days? - Latin Rock or Latino- American music did not reach its potential and this album by Tierra typifies that -- With such greats as Little Willy G and Thee Nighters scoring hit upon hit during the 1960's, it...

Today TIERRA has a strong following. TIERRA also created a local pride with the likes of LOS LOBOS and EL CHICANO. Whether you call it the EAST LOS sound or the CHICANO sound, TIERRA is another example of what CHICANO PRIDE sounds like.// CON SAFOS!

i always dug Tierra and there sound. there instrumentation and harmony was something that always caught my ear off the word go back in the day. there cover of the Intruders "Together" was always my jam. I dig both versions. Tierra always had a distinct style to there playing and vocal stylings. this is a Good Set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Other Recommendations, February 19, 2004

This fine collection of Chicano soul is a perfect mix of all the elements that make up Chicano rythm n' soul : Latin rock, Brown eyed soul, salsa, musica mexicana, bolero, funk. If this is your bag and want to get into it deeper, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND "Back To The Barrio" Vol 1 (Rare and hard to find Chicano classics) it has many out of print, unreleased Latin funk, Latin rock and latin soul. The best compilation available in this genre. contact www.chorizomusic2004@yahoo.com

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY, April 2, 2004
This review is from: Tierra Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I remember going to my cousins' house in my teenage years and still to this day to listen to my favorite record singles that she has. One of them being "Always and Forever" by Heatwave and then there was this other record single. I didn't know who was the group that sang the song or what the song was called. All I know was to look for the white background with blue on top and black lettering. I got to the point that when I would visit her (which is often) she would automatically bring those two records out.

Last month I finally got the name of the song and group . . . . "Together" by Tierra!! I FINALLY found it even if it was the English version. I ordered a couple of the CD `s because I know she loves it as much as I do. I can't find the Spanish version of "Together" . . so if anyone knows where to find it, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE email me at Marisol_Serrano@keybank.com.

An added bonus was the song "Margarita" which I didn't know who song that either.

These two songs make the CD worth buying it. Sorry this was so long, but the history is important in finally adding this CD to my collection if oldies but goodies!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars sweet latin soul, October 9, 2003

This collection is very nice to have wether you are getting it on with your ruca,or cruising your lowrider down the boulevard.Their sound was not as aggresive as Malo or Azteca, they had a sound all their own. The latin influence was always there along with the eastside sound.Every song tells a story here in the barrio. That is why all chicanos/latinos can relate to Tierra. These are some of their best songs. This is a great cd to have in your collection. For all you Chicano and old-school fans I recomend "Back to the Barrio" "rare and hard to find chicano classics"compilation. you should contact www.chorizomusic2003@yahoo.com

TIERRA and many other East LA Bands have and had such marvelous potential to make lasting impact in the world of music -- why is CRA---- oops RAP so dominant these days? - Latin Rock or Latino- American music did not reach its potential and this album by Tierra typifies that -- With such greats as Little Willy G and Thee Nighters scoring hit upon hit during the 1960's, it is a disservice to the Latino community that politics of the 60's era soured and turned radical and militant because all Latino bands and their music were celebratory -see the song list about this - but NOT AT ALL SUITED FOR Brown Power or Viva La Raza nonsense -- This is why the artists struggle themselves in attempting to satisfy too broad of a radicalized market. Its a shame Still some of the Greatest hits Tierra album are very good but very much like the East Los Angeles loser La Raza Movement, the entire collection just does not make the grade. Its sad to see Brown Berets stinking up the streets again today -- Tierra is a fine band - our times however were not and today with O'Bama ARE NOT! Enjoy the tunes that you can.
