4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff
If for nothing else, buy this for the last couple of tracks which are Al "Blind Owl" Wilson's last recordings before his untimely death. Bob Hite and the others are also in fine form. Good, pure boogie and blues. A welcome relief from the slick, over produced schlock we hear dominating the airwaves today. This cd is fun. Bob Hite, Henry Vestine, Alan Wilson,...

Good, pure boogie and blues. A welcome relief from the slick, over produced schlock we hear dominating the airwaves today. This cd is fun. Bob Hite, Henry Vestine, Alan Wilson, de la Parra and Taylor, were/are talents that have received very little rcognition. All were.are great in what they do/did. Hite was realy a joy to listen to. He seemed to truly love what he was doing. But, so did the rest of the boys. Too bad they couldn't have gotten their personal lives under control and thus lived a little longer giving us the benefit of more of their work. Get this one and have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Atlantic Session and the last of the Blind Owl, November 11, 2004

The previously unreleased Atlantic Records session from 1974. Negotiated out of their UA contract, Canned Heat moved to Atlantic where notable blues enthusiasts the Ertegun Brothers were persuaded to give the band another chance. The tapes were released back to the band after the label lost interest due to the impending disco craze, and the infamous Lester Bang's eloquent 1973 Rolling Stone thrashing of "The New Age." LP. Fito de la Parra released the album in 1997. An excellent boogie-blues record in a time that didn't understand the music, The two unreleased Alan Wilson Tracks (Get Off My Back, Somethings Gotta Go) also appear on the newly released and available "The Boogie House Tapes Vol. 2", and are a studio and live track that were some of his last recordings. No word on a re-issue, but you can purchase the record from the band directly. - www.cannedheatmusic.com. All content copyright www.maximumink.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Alan Wilson's Last Recordings., May 27, 2010

This review is from: Ties That Bind (Audio CD)
It's not one of the best Canned Heat albums, but it's worth buying because it contains a couple of tracks with Alan Wilson's last recordings.
That said, the album also have some good songs and catchy tunes, although it's a later Canned Heat line-up. All in all, the album is a nice effort and I commend Canned Heat for carrying on after Alan Wilson's death. That was no easy task as the die hard fans will know.
