4.0 out of 5 stars soundtrack without a movie, October 26, 2009

This review is from: The Ties That Blind (Audio CD)
OK Why hasn't someone written a review? And why aren't there any audio tracks ? Because there is no way to anticipate this. Its unique. And can take getting used to. For one thing it is jazz. But doesn't adhere to jazz formulas. It is drama telling little stories in phrases and piles of little micro crescendos that catch you off guard. It is sonorous. umm if that is a word. Rich in cinematic ambiance minus the film! Lots of layers. Reminds you of an alternate reality 40' & 50's. One that you are a part of but had somehow forgotten. It doesn't have any kind of pop edge which seems unusual when looking at the pop albums he has played on. I suppose it is part of the studio musician underworld. The flip side to pop. Where the musicians could have gone. So thats not something heard very often. I'd like to think many would love this if they'd ever heard and let it get under their skin where it seems to want to go.
