Wonderful Soundtrack!, December 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Tieta Do Agresta: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Caetano Veloso's gifted talent can be heard and felt in this wonderful soundtrack for the film "Tieta do Agreste". "A Luz de Tieta" is a very entertaining song, perfectly capturing the rithmics and sounds of Bahia, Caetano's home state and the natural scenario of "Tieta". Gal Costa delivers all her talent and beautiful voice in the song "O Motor da Luz", among many others in the CD. Joining Caetano and Gal is the gifted composer Jaques Morelenbaum, one of Brazil's great talents in the arena of film music. His orquestrations for the soundtrack - including "Perpétua e Zé Esteves"; "Tieta e Ascānio"; and "Leonora na Janela" - are strong examples of what brazilians can do in composing original scores. Something that can also be heard in other Morelenbaum scores, such as "O Quatrilho" (again, with Caetano), and, most importantly, in the soundtrack of "Central Station". It is very good and very important to get to know such amazing talents like the ones of Caetano Veloso,Gal Costa, and Jaques Morelenbaum.
