Amazon.com Product Description

Perfect for use in high altitudes and along bodies of water. Ideal for aerial shots, mountain scenes, and marine scenes.

Product Description

These filters absorb Ultra Violet (UV) light. Film is more sensitive to Ultra Violet light than our eyes. This often shows up as a haze or a bluish cast, especially when shot from high altitudes and from long distances, particularly over water. UV filters also help protect your lens from dust, moisture, fingerprints, scratches and damage from cleaning. Since they absorb no normal light and have no effect on color or contrast, they can be kept on your lens at all times. Tiffen Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of absorbtion levels and sizes. UV filter ---------- Standard UV. Most popular protection filter. UV MC -------------- Multi coated for extra flare protection. UV Warm ------------ Combines UV with Tiffen's '812' warming filter. Haze 1 ------------- Absorbs 75% of UV light. Haze 2 --------------Absorbs 100% of UV light. Haze 15--------------Absorbs 81% of UV light. Haze 16--------------Absorbs 86.5% of UV light Haze 17 ------------ Absorbs almost all UV light. UV Wide Angle Thin - UV filter for use with wide angle lenses.

Tiffen filter are the best. And if you want to photograph fluorescent minerals, this filter the 2A is essential.

I just decided I'm never purchasing low cost optics by mail again. I purchased a UV Haze and a circular polarizer. The polarizer was perfect, pristine and new. A great buy. The UV Haze had a worn case, when opened was mis-repacked with the instruction manual between the filter and the packing foam protector. The manual was well worn and obviously USED a lot. And of course the UV Haze filter was SCRATCHED. This is a glass filter with no coatings so it takes a real good ding to scratch it with a nice deep 1/4 inch scratch.

I could spend $5-$10 to return it for an exchange, and maybe I will not get a damaged one again, and maybe I will. I question any company that re-stocks an obviously damaged and very worn item. After spending for the extra postage the mail order filter will not be a very good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars good for you and good for your camera equipment, February 2, 2001

This filter is great and I leave it on my camera 24-7. When I need to switch to a polarizing filter, I just screw that filter on and leave the haze-2A on. Not only does it keep your pictures crystal clear and crisp, but it also protects your camera. I do think it does affect your pictures more than the Haze- 1 filter as far as blocking out Uv rays, but for this price, it's worth it. Great to protect that expensive lens or even that inexpensive lens on your camera.
