Amazon.com Product Description

A wise initial investment for your camera, the Tiffen 49mm Skylight 1-A filter helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. While protecting the front element of the lens, this filter also reduces the bluish cast of daylight and produces a pleasing, warmer picture tone--thanks to its light pink color. It's perfect for nature, travel and outdoor photography.

This filter also provides additional benefits of correction for ultraviolet (UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details. It can also be used to reduce the bluish cast common with some electronic flash units. You can leave the filter on the lens at all times for protection and it comes with a 10-year warranty.

Product Description

Safeguard your lens and absorb UV light. Film and video are more sensitive to UV light than our eyes are. This often shows up as a bluish cast in images, especially shots from high altitudes and long distances, particularly over water. Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of UV absorption levels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sky 1-A Filter, March 7, 2001
By A Customer
I love this filter. I do a lot of shots from pretty high up to cover larger bodies of water and buildings. It absorbs most of the UV light and makes my pictures warmer looking.

5.0 out of 5 stars warm sky, February 14, 2010

I bought this filter for my wife's new Nikkor 28 mm wide angle lens. She used it for some digital images of a snowy outdoor scene last weekend and the images turned out very nicely. The sky seems a 'warmer' shade of blue and the clouds seem 'whiter' somehow. I've just ordered two more of these filters for other lens with the same diameter.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not my lens, October 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
There's nothing special about this filter. It's just an affordable way to protect your lens. I'm happy with it so far. It does contribute to lens flare which can be a pain if you're ever trying to shoot even slightly into the sun. I wasn't expecting anything amazing, though. It's a good price. You can't go wrong.
