I LOVE this set of Close Up Filters. The magnifications are +1, +2, and +4. They are great at the finest of details. The mags are clear and precise. Each filter is incredible. I actually once used the + 2 filter to magnify a picture that had been cut down to the size of a half dollar, centered it, and was able to save the clarity to process a 4x6 photo. It was unbeliveable!!!

It's a good lens set, but is worth what was paid for it. Uncoated so there can be reflections. Also has a lot of surface curvature that can cause distortion. Performance will depend on type and focal length of lens. Good beginner's lens but I would recommend the Canon series or a good macro lens if you can afford it (them).

I own the 67mm thread set, and use it with my Fujifilm S100fs.
The S100fs has a very close macro distance of about 1cm, unfortunately only in the 28mm position of the lens. That leaves the object kind of small in the picture. To counter that, I bought this close-up lens set. The three lenses work like a magnifying glass, with different power.
I generally only use the one with the greatest power, and the results are very acceptable. I tried to use all three lenses together, but that gives you noticeable degradation in picture quality.
Those close-up lenses are by no means an alternative solution to a dedicated macro lens (with extension tubes), but if you have no choice, like with a non-interchangeable lens camera like the S100fs, it is a very good work-around. What you get is a bit more creative freedom, but it certainly is no silver bullet. Nonetheless, I am pleased with the quality of the pictures I get with the close-up lenses, finding the greatest power lens the most useful.

I'm barely getting started with macro (yes, I know, not really macro, but you know what I mean) photography, so I didn't want to pay for a macro lens, so t got this close-up set recently, and have been playing around with them for a while.

So far, I've had great fun with them, and gotten some good shots. I mostly use these on a 55-250mm and they work great, plus I get the added benefit of not having to change lens every time I find a bug on the ground. Versatility and mobility are very important to me when traveling, so I really enjoy being able to take close up shots without having to carry another lens in my bag, and for now, I'm perfectly ok with sacrificing real macro quality for it.

Since I've been enjoying pseudo-macro photography so much, I might eventually upgrade for a 1:1 macro lens, and even then I'd keep those close-up lens in case I don't have the time to switch lenses, or I find myself in a very dusty environment and I don't want to risk getting my sensor dirty.

For your basic, entry-level creative photography, these are a great buy. I'm an amateur and these work great for me. There are irregularities that form around the edges of your photos if you go too crazy (stacking all three together for a photo for example) but for the price, they're great fun.

The Tiffen lens set are made in Japan and these arrived in perfect condition. Each lens is individually wrapped in cellophane and packed inside a black snap-closure stiff synthetic leather case. The three close-up lens in this set are +1, +2 and +4.

I tested them and all three screwed on securely to the threading on my Panasonic FZ35 camera lens. Great price (under $26) too so I'm very pleased with this purchase. I'll be experimenting with these to see how my macro shots turn out. Now I need to find an inexpensive and lightweight tripod next, maybe just a tabletop one. My Gorillapod won't work for the camera I now have.

These Tiffen close-up lens are very high quality optics. They will last a life time. My only complaint is the leather case has a snap closure with exposed metal on the inside of the case. Thus when snapping the case closed, that metal can scratch the adjacent lens.

I shoot HD video with a Canon 60D, and I often do weddings. I'd had fun with closeup filters in my deep dark past, and wanted to try again. Last Sunday I shot a wedding at a resort, and the opening sequence was shot in the bridal suite where she did finishing touches on her gown, hair and makeup. I started with the #2 (medium) closeup filter on Canon's 50mm 1.4, and got several extreme closeups... flowers, details of the gown, champagne bottles, makeup containers, etc. Then switched to the #1 filter (less magnification) for tight closeups of her face as she did makeup. Then - bang - removed the closeup filter and cut to a full body shot of her in the dress, holding her bouquet. Very effective. My only comment is that the #3 filter is so powerful I haven't found a use for it yet... but it's nice to know I've got room to move.
