Often you want to balance light intensity between two areas within a scene. This is important outdoors to allow more sky details while properly exposing the foreground. Exposing for the foreground will produce a washed-out, over-exposed sky, exposing for the sky will leave the foreground dark, underexposed.Color-Grad Neutral Density filters are part clear, part neutral density, with a smoothly graded transition between. A Color-Grad ND.6-to-clear is often best for balancing sky to foreground. Neutral gray appearance drop exposure.

I am an just an amateur, and I have owned these filters (+ others of the same brand) for about two years, and I have been very very happy with them. In particular, you cannot believe how different your landscape pictures will look like with a cicular polarizer filter unless you try it. This filter will really change your life (well, picturewise at least...). If used properly, you will have pictures with incredibly neat colors. The way it will render the blue of a noon sky is unbelievable. These filters are well worth their price. If you only want to buy one, you should definitely buy the circular polarizer.

Improves pictures dramatically and protects lense. Top quality and sent in a neat bag. Local camera store had this at twice the price.

I use the UV filter as my lense insurance policy. The polarizer really makes a difference in highlighting sky/horizon shots. Here in the southwest the warming filter adds a really nice touch to a lot of my nature shots. Very nice package overall and the price is a hit versus buying all three individually. The fold up case also comes in handy.
