5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forget what the little punker kids say, they're too "Punk" to like anything anyway, They want cookie-cutter psychobilly, this is not it, I'm a huge fan of rockabilly music, as well as punk rock, though I'm not fooled by a typical punk band that throws a stand up bass in to the mix and tries to call themselves "PSYCHOBILLY" I don't buy that stuff. 3.0 out of 5 stars The Gist on: Tiger Army III
If your AFI CD's have set up a permenant residence in your player, you can take them out and get the same kind of sound. Of course, no band is the same and that is what's great. Without having the same sound, Tiger Army's got the same sound, savvy? Emotion without screams and chaotic bits thrown in without guitar crunches set them aside.

This album on the other hand is great from start to finish, if you like Tiger Army..........GET IT!, if you've never heard Tiger Army..........GET IT, I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you like great music then buy this NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. PRELUDE: DEATH OF A TIGER 3/5: Kind of a waste of a track, its not bad but they should've just combined it with track 2.

2. GHOST TIGERS RISE 5/5: This is another great intro/instrumental song.

3. WANDER ALONE 5/5: Really good song, up-beat, cool riffs, great vocals, great chorus, good rockabilly feel to it.

4. SANTA CARLA TWILIGHT 5/5: A little mellower, still real good, great little instrumental break in the middle.

5. GHOSTFIRE 6/5: This is one of Tiger Armys best songs, got a real 50's Rockabilly feel to it, which is great, music rocks, Nick 13 vocals are at his best.

6. ROSE OF THE DEVILS GARDEN 5/5: One of my favorites, a little slower, but up-beat at the same time, very melodic, again Nicks vocals are at his best.

7. ATOMIC 5/5: one of the more up-beat songs on the album, all around solid song.

8. WHAT HAPPENS? 5/5: again a solid song all around, very cool guitar riffs, good chorus.

9. THROUGH THE DARKNESS 6/5: This song is totally 50's, and I love it, great vocals, everything about it is good.

10. THE LONG ROAD 5/5: This is the country song on the album (just like track 10 on the last album) its got a little different feel than the other "country" songs though, but equally as good, Tiger Army does excellent country songs, I love em all, this song has great pedal steel work and is all around a great song.

11. CALLING 6/5: Right now its my favorite on the album, it has great guitar work and a good rockabilly beat, and the chorus is amazing.

12. SWIFT SILENT DEADLY 3/5: The weakest song on the album, not bad at all though, its the fastest song, and the music is right on, but I don't like the vocal effect on the whole song, (much like that on "werecat") it just sounds repetive, but its still good enough to listen to everytime.

13. SEA OF FIRE 5/5: Good album closer, again it has a real rockabilly feel to it, so of course I like it. I think its Tiger armys longest song too, its a little over 5 minutes, but hey its good.

This album is a lot more "Rockabilly" then "Psychobilly", and I Love every minute of it. Forget all of that "Oh its not PSYCHO enough" FORGET IT! it rocks, if you want run of the mill psychobilly then go listen to another band, these guys have style and this is definetly my favorite album of 2004.

The writing is tight. The song structure is incredible. His vocals are amazing. The sound of the recording is so different from any other psychobilly stuff out there. Nick 13 has grown into a much better songwriter/musician. I hope their next disc sounds this good. Alot of people bashed this disc, but they are trapped into what they think psychobilly should sound like. Nick 13 is making the genre evolve, and I applaud him for it. If every band sounded like Demented Are Go!, the Meteors or the Nekromantix this genre of music will die faster than the grunge scene from a decade ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Through The Darkness..., July 29, 2005

This review is from: Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise (Audio CD)
Tiger Army developed their own psychobilly. They call it American Psychobilly. I became a fan when I heard the first album. God, i was impressed. And with every album my love for this band was bigger or should I say it is.
Nick 13 is a goddamn great lyricsist, singer and for sure not a bad composer.
I was waiting for that album and when I first heard it it was like...this is it. Do you need anything more. Bass is slapping more than on previous releases, here is not much of additional instruments or backing vocals. But it sounds great and pure.
Of course you'll hear a slide guitar in one song (The Long Road). The formula is the same but they sound different. Maybe even more sad and romantic (Through the Darkness, Calling).
This is a masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elitists eff off., July 17, 2006

III is Tiger Army's most mature-sounding and solid piece of work to date. The songwriting is aeons beyond that found on their first album, and on III they've chosen to showcase their sharp pop sensibilities. The songs all have distinct personalities of their own, all while screaming TIGER ARMY. Personal favorites include the '50s-esque love song "Through The Darkness," country-fied "The Long Road," and "Calling," which is one of their best songs ever IMO. Looking forward to the next release.

It's not fair to blow off good music simply because it appeals to a wider audience - not cool at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uber, September 21, 2005
This review is from: Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise (Audio CD)
This is Tiger Army, what more can I say? Everything about this album is very well put together. There is a balance of slower rockabilly songs and faster more intense psychobilly songs. The bass is awsome. Too bad their bassist Geoff had to leave the band, he was so awsome. Anyway I would reccomend this cd to a fan of anything from punk to country.

I only gave it a three for a lack of variety. It's good, but lacks the diversity and changing paces of tracks that could make it a stand-out album; but the static sound actually works quite well for Tiger Army. Simply put, you should get it if you feel AFI has made your other Cd's their bitches.

5.0 out of 5 stars TIGER ARMY NEVER DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, September 7, 2004
This review is from: Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise (Audio CD)
I'm sick of the people saying "good, but not true psychobilly." Who cares. This album F***ing kills. Ghostfire, Santa Carla Twilight, and Rose of the Devils Garden are all classics. I don't really care what genre music is. If I like it thats good enough. I respect Tiger Army's music greatfully and would bow down to them if I saw them. TIGER ARMY NEVER DIE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dont listen to them!, July 2, 2004
By
This review is from: Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise (Audio CD)
This is easily Tiger Army's best work to date. They have slowed it down quite a bit, but they have also cleaned up and refined their sound. There is less clutter in the music, but more substance. The production quality is the best yet The guitar style has changed, it has slowed some and the chord progressions are more melodic. The Bass still drives the music, although it is not as aggressive as it was. This is by no means a bad thing, the bass lines are still incredible. The most notable change however,is in the writing, vocal quality, and lyrical content. The songs are more unique than in past efforts. Nick 13 has very much improved vocally. His voice is simply amazing on this album. The lyrical content is also much deeper and impacting than any Tiger Army work so far. Another notable change is the use of more backup vocal than before (reminds me of the way AFI uses backup). Overall, this CD represents quite a progression for Tiger Army. I would recommend it for any fans of true punk. Dont listen to the hardcore Psychobilly fans who claim this record is junk because it isnt uptempo and blistering. Listen and see for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars III is Pure Beauty, July 3, 2004
By
Doyle (Earth A.D.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise (Audio CD)
Tiger Army III has finally arrived! This time around the band has taken a more mellow approach yet were still able to produce an album that is a definite classic. Features Nick 13's best vocal performance on an album, Geoff's tremendous improvement with his stand-up bass and some of the finest beats courtesy of in-studio drummer Mike Fasano. The best Tiger Army album to date. A must-have for all fanatics.

1. Prelude: Death Of A Tiger - (5/5) - nice creepy intro
2. Ghost Tigers Rise - (5/5) - a 2-minute instrumental with some familiar screams, ends with a "Tiger...Army..Never...Die!!!" chant
3. Wander Alone - (5/5)- Awesome! the chorus, the stanzas, everything. Some whoas in the chorus.
4. Santa Carla Twilight - (5/5) - Greatness. The chorus is irresistably catchy, too bad it's not repeated.
5. Ghostfire - (5/5) - You probably heard this one so you know it's pretty damn good.
6. Rose Of The Devil's Garden -(5/5) - an 80's influenced song, they made a video for this one =)

7. Atomic - (5/5) - probably the most upbeat on the cd, another great song, some whoas in the chorus
8. What Happens? - (4/5) - has a strong rockabilly vibe, catchy beat
9. Through The Darkness - (5/5) - flawless, rock-n-roll-country-influenced song
10. The Long Road - (5/5) - another country-style song with guitar solos, sure to be loved by fans of In the Orchard/Outlaw Heart
11. Calling - (5/5) - catchy melodies, drum-bass solo, it's sooo good, trust me =)
12. Swift Silent Deadly - (3/5) - the only "not-up-to-par" song on the album. Just lacks something to make it memorable.
13. Sea Of Fire - (5/5) - a sweet slow rockabilly start, kicks into an upbeat track, remarkable lyrics, a sing-along-to chorus.
