4.0 out of 5 stars Eases pain
I was introduced to this when taking physical therapy for a ruptured disk. It works great but the smell is strong. I use it at home so that I don't clear the sinuses of everyone at work. In physical therapy they use it under a hot wrap. It feels like it loosens my back and hip muscles. It says it is non staining but I did have trouble getting it out of a shirt after PT...

4.0 out of 5 stars Eases pain, May 26, 2010
This review is from: Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Ointment, Non-Staining, Ultra Strength, 0.63 Ounces (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I was introduced to this when taking physical therapy for a ruptured disk. It works great but the smell is strong. I use it at home so that I don't clear the sinuses of everyone at work. In physical therapy they use it under a hot wrap. It feels like it loosens my back and hip muscles. It says it is non staining but I did have trouble getting it out of a shirt after PT. If you don't mind the smell and you want DEEP penetrating relief then this is what you want to get.

I also purchased BIOFREEZE Gel, 32-Ounce Bottle / Pump to use during the day. It doesn't give as deep relief but it does help the pain. It also doesn't have the oil base and the smell dissipates pretty quickly.

It is a trade off for me. Biofreeze is what I use the most during the day because I don't have to worry about it touching my clothes. I also don't have to worry about the smell bothering people around me. Tiger Balm is what I use at the end of the day or a hard work out for deep relief.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! But use in moderation!, June 3, 2010
This review is from: Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Ointment, Non-Staining, Ultra Strength, 0.63 Ounces (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I love this stuff. I am a migraine sufferer and sometimes it's the only thing that brings me any relief. I put it on my temples and it just takes the pain away. It smells kind of like cinnamon and vick's vapor rub and has a really extreme cooling sensation that lasts a pretty long time.

But I do have to warn you- don't just keep applying it for hours and hours. I had a bad headache last weekend and had it on my temples for about 3 hours and my skin has been red and peeling for 4 days now.

So I love it to death but be careful! Don't burn your skin off!

I have arthritis in my thumbs and I sometimes cannot even hold an artist brush, much less open a jar or bottle...I rub this in and within minutes, I am mobile, and, fairly pain=free again! I have been using Tiger Balm products for years...since the 70's when I happen to run across it in Hong Kong...I also power walk my dogs every day....3-to 5 miles and sometimes have knee issues and use it for that also..

5.0 out of 5 stars Relief from migraine, February 8, 2011

Tiger Balm Ultra saved my life.

For an entire month, I had nonstop ocular and tension migraines, around the clock. I'd wake up with it, go to bed with it, and it became so unbearable I couldn't eat or sleep adequately. I could only conserve my ability to stare at a computer screen during work times, so I couldn't do anything after work--no tv, no yoga, no dinner with friends, no gym, no sports, no walks, no cooking, no museums, no outlets for stress and my life was paralyzed due to the migraines.

One neurologist, one psychiatrist, and one MRI later, I had prescriptions of Zoloft and tramadol, which didn't completely get rid of the migraine, but filtered it enough to get through the day, yet at the end of the medication's life, I'd have nausea, vertigo, my lack of desire for food was even worse, and the insomnia grew---so my life was still on hold as a result of migraines. I stopped completely with prescriptions.

What has worked is a hot bath or shower with a head/temple massage in peppermint/eucalyptus oil, followed by careful application of Tiger balm ultra (not the normal or red, it has to be ultra) rubbed carefully on the temples, tension spots at pulse areas on head, neck and shoulders, a hot cup of tea, plus over the counter Excedrin Migraine.

Tiger Balm ultra at the early onset of a migraine stops it altogether. Tiger Balm Ultra during the roughest part of a migraine attack has made it bearable.

The only issue is it is really, really strong and burns! So be careful!
It's also super smelly and unpleasant to some people, so you may get annoyed sniffles in packed elevators and when you take public transportation with eau de Tiger Balm ultra.

I do many athletic activities and am getting just a bit older. I originally found this product in Thailand and it is the only one of its kind that actually works quickly and efficently. I now believe in Tiger Balm and use it after workouts. It really works, especially for us older athletes.

I bought this for my Afghanistan co-workers. They took it home to their elders who loved it for the relief it gave they from the joint pains they have. They Loved it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Using it for years but stains clothes, August 28, 2011
This review is from: Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Ointment, Non-Staining, Ultra Strength, 0.63 Ounces (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
When I get aches an pains from joggiing I use this stuff and it always works great. The only problem is that it occasionally stained my clothes. I think it may depend on the type of material. I started covering the ointment in guaze and then athletic tape to stop it from rubbing in my clothes. I may try the patch next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love tiger balm for head ache relief, April 3, 2011
This review is from: Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Ointment, Non-Staining, Ultra Strength, 0.63 Ounces (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I've always used tiger balm for my aches and pains. It works every time. My boyfriend uses it before and after working out. We wouldn't keep using it if it didn't work... I also like to inhale it and apply a small amount to my temples and between my brows. My head ache goes away in about 1-2 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST pain relieving balm out there!, March 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Ointment, Non-Staining, Ultra Strength, 0.63 Ounces (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
First, the 2 pack is a huge savings over the single - it makes no sense to purchase the 1 pack unless you're not sure if you'll like the stuff. Tiger Balm has a unique smell and works better than ANY other rub I've tried - and I have tried them all. Flexall, TigerBalm, Bengay, generic Walmart and more. I little goes a LONG way - one jar will last the average person a couple of dozen uses. I take a jar when I go on vacation (skiing - especially skiing) and always have one at home.

The stuff sticks well ans will not sweat off as easily as others. Just wash your hands VERY well - or you'll regret it later when rugging your eyes or going to the bathroom.
