I was concerned that the description did not change whenever I selected the longer staff. I called the company and they said it is some sort of glitch. The staff I got varies from 7/8" to 1 1/4" diameter and 84" long. As with all natural products there are variations from one to another. Perfect for my intended purpose!

Its lightweight and flexible and excellent for training. Not excellent for sparring (or hitting random objects not meant to be hit)
Mine's lasted months now; I use it often and it still looks and functions just as it did the day I bought it. Very satisfied with waxwood.

while this is weighted nicely and moves well, i expected something with a bit more work put into it. this is basically just a stick that has been somewhat sanded. needs a bit of work once you get it.

This has got to be one of the worst items I've ever purchased from a martial arts store. The staff they sent me was 2 inches on one end and only 1/2 and inch on the other. I could have made a far superior and consistent staff by simply cutting down a tree from my woods. Now I'm stuck with shipping fees for a product that isn't even close to what it was described as. This is not a staff for any serious martial artist. I resembles more of a pool cue with branch knots on it. I will not be doing business with this store again.
10/14/11 -Just one quick update I wanted to provide, while this product remains garbage the seller did provide me with a full refund without having to return the staff (which had expensive shipping costs). It's still sitting boxed up unused, but I'm happy the store addressed the issue.
