More About the Author

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

I'm a full time wife, mother, and author. I've been lucky enough to have spent over two decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I'm addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when your write you can make sure there's always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.

After the last Species book I thought the author had lost her way, but, I was wrong. The heroine in this novel is strong, level headed, funny, and a good match for the hero. I loved Tiger, and reading about how he wanted to resist Zandy, but just couldn't. The story was great, I read it in one sitting :) The book was as sexy as any other I've read, and the love scenes were HOT!!! They were made hotter because you were aware of the emotional intensity between the characters, though, they both tried to fight it. The dialogue was alot better in this book, less juvenile than the last. I would say this was a great addition to an awesome series.

I am so glad that Tiger finally met the woman that rocked his world. He was both deserving and aching to be brought to his mated knees. This installment was a great read. Yes, I started and finished it the day it came out. I couldn't wait to pull it up this morning on my Kindle.

Tiger and Zandy make a great pair. She is strong and speaks her mind, which is a good combo with the New Species bluntness. Tiger fought the pull as long as he could but ended up giving in. I loved their story, and was glad to see that we were getting hints for other books in the series. I hope Smiley and Ven find their someones soon!

Altogether, another great addition. I missed getting info on the other mated couples.

Now I have to wait for the next one to come out!

I didn't wait patiently for this book i counted days , hours, minutes as tiger is one of my favorite. I was also keen to see how she would pair him with a mate as he has made it clear in all the books he doesn't want a mate especially a human. Zandy i loved her she really had her goals right once you read the first couple of pages on chapter 3 you will know what i'm talking about i laughed my arse off but by the end of the chapter i swear i got chills, took a break to go find my husband. I wont a male like Tiger every time i think of him purring i get a little shiver . please please i wont to work for the new species i promise i will be a very bad girl very bad.

New Species are a genetic hybrid of animal (Canine, Feline or Primate) and human DNA created in a lab for medical research company. They were raised to test pharmaceutical research and as potential military assets. They were given numbers instead of names. They were kept in cages and treated with distain. They were abused. Decades later they were freed when their existance was made public. After the general population realized the debth of suffering that they had endured, they were given a homeland and reservation within the USA. Although they have a majority of human DNA, they have chosen to call themselves New Species.

Zandy is having a bad day. She recently moved to northern california for a job, that turned out to be a mistake. Her boss has turned out to be a creep. She's out at a bar wallowing in her sorrow when a huge bar fight breaks out.. and lucky her, she ends up caught in the middle of it. Buried and unable to wiggle free, she is trapped under the crushing weight of some fallen losers of the fight happening around her. A New Species security team from their nearby reservation show up in black uniforms and roit gear and, working with local law enforcement, burst in and breaks up the fight. Tiger finds Zandy under some passed out/knocked out men and gives her CPR. Zandy regains consciousness shortly after and, in a daze, tells Tiger that he beautiful and kisses him. After the kiss she notices his uniform and, thinking much clearer, she realizes that he is New Species. Fast-forward a few weeks -- Zandy gets a new job which happens to be at the New Species reservation. Tiger, as far back as Slade's story, has been against mating with a human. He wants a New Species female. He thinks Human females are too small and fragile for the needs of a New Species male.

Laurann Dohner's books straddle the genres of romance and erotica. This book stoutly favored erotica over romance. Yes, it has the classic HEA, which is a romance requirement, but a significant portion of the storytelling is devoted to the hot sex scenes, often to the detriment of the story line and the development of the characters.

Tiger has been with us for awhile in the series, so we come to this story already knowing the guy a bit. He always came across as fun-loving and even light-hearted. I remember especially his frustration (and honor) with Valiant when Valiant abducts Tammy from his front lawn and takes her into his house for some forced seduction. Tiger has continuously loved to tease his fellow New Species every time they fall in love and mate with a weak, puny human. So I was especially looking forward to his own fall.

Yet, throughout the story, despite repeatedly being told by the narrator that he was reluctant to actually mate with Zandy, he never really struggles much with the concept at all. How can a perfect set-up developed over many books fizzle with such a lack of ceremony? Neither character fights the attraction. Attempts to create barriers to their HEA are either repetitive (another abduction by the baddies as in _Valiant_, although with a somewhat fresh twist in its final scene), lackadaisical self-doubting by both characters, deus-ex-machina interventions (like Tiger's temporary rejection of Zandy being a consequence of a reaction to drugs rather than a true anxiety of putting her in danger--so, hey no problems about hurting her feelings; she takes him right back) and, more often than not, a substitution of no communication for miscommunication.

In the end, the sex takes over and dominates the plot.

I've been following the NS since the beginning. I just knew that Tiger was gonna fall and when he did, he was gonna fall hard. When the publisher (Ellora's Cave) put the synopsis and excerpt up on their website (link: http://www.jasminejade.com/p-9959-tiger.aspx), I read the cover... Read More
