Pictures are out of this world. They capture the love and affection this golden girl has for her adopted babies. Always a mother, never to care if they are hers or not. I am a golden lover and this book will be passed around in the family. It is now my coffee table book for everyone to see.

This book will make you happy. Guaranteed.,

If some fiendishly clever person set out to create a book I would be absolutely compelled to buy, this would be it. As soon as I saw it I was powerless to resist. It's a concentrated dose of the most insanely happy-making cuteness I have ever seen [...]Pages of utterly adorable pictures of baby tigers being raised by golden retrievers. What more could you want? Try not to love the tigers' googly blue eyes, stubby tails, and huge floppy paws--I dare you. Try to resist how they gnaw on chew toys or attack an unsuspecting roll of toilet paper. The most hardened criminal would melt into a pile of goo before the unstoppable Power of Cute contained in this little book.
There's a little bit of text, but the pictures say it all. Tiger Pups: better than Prozac. Read it and be happy.

This is a beautiful story, with great photos. If you have a child who might be inclined to a career in veterinary science or zoology, this is a great first book. It reminds me of the "Awsome Pawsome" stories of a litter of tiger cubs raised in captivity. It is a simple book with good photos that anyone of any age can enjoy. I am giving it to my local library for them to share with the children of Lillian. I hope just one or two children will want to experience raising little tigers (in a zoo- not at home) , and that bigger children (adults) might feel an affinity for tiger cubs (or golden retrievers, as that was the nursing mother for the cubs) and then become proactive in protecting the Tiger's natural habitat, visit your local Zoo, adopt a Golden Retriever, and give your local library a good book. Give your children dreams. This is a wonderful start if they love animals.

This wonderful story, told in uttermost simplicity, and accompanied by awesome photographs, cannot be recommended too highly. I believe it should be in every children's school library as it is so faith affirming in the power of love and the importance of staying connected to our natural friends. It is healing to both animal and human.
A mother tiger rejects her three newborns shortly after birth. A golden retriever that recently gave birth to her own pups adopts the tigers, and we get to see their development within their relationship to the dog and her own growing puppies up to the point where the tiger pups are ready to live outdoors. The photographs by Tom Harvey and Keith Philpott are fantastic and not to be missed. Sarah L. Thomson, author and poet, assisted the Harveys in the writing of the book and in sculpturing the story to a very tasteful simplicity. The photographs really do most of the talking. We see the tigers before their eyes have opened, graduating to their milk bottles and playing with toilet paper and stuffed toys. One wonderful photo is of the tiger pup coming out of the bathtub, dripping and soaked with water and a puzzled look on her face (the pups are all girls). The Harveys own and operate Safari Zoological park in Caney, Kansas, and we hope above hope that the tiger pups are still doing well there.

I gave this book to two boys at my day care who love my golden retriever. They both think it is my dog who is in the book. The pictures of the tiger pups are adorable. It teaches the boys that different animals can take care of each other. I hope they can learn that different people can take care of each other also.

Yes, I know this is a childrens' book, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to look at young tiger cubs, especially three being raised by a dog and then playing with the other dogs.
