4.0 out of 5 stars Great story. Plus there's another book that complements it!
This a wonderful book --written in poetic verse-- telling the story of a boy's call to Everest. The illustrations complement the text beautifully. However, the story takes place in 1953, so today's kids may not relate to the times.

If you're interested in a more modern adventure, here's another book (for kids ages 8-15) about 13 year-old Jordan Romero, who...

3.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful adventure
The text of this book lacks something,
how to describe it?
Something basic,
Instrumental,
Something every child needs to learn,
oh yes, I remember.

(Sigh.)

If you're interested in a more modern adventure, here's another book (for kids ages 8-15) about 13 year-old Jordan Romero, who in May, 2010 became the youngest person to summit Mount Everest!

It's called, THE BOY WHO CONQUERED EVEREST. Check it out here on Amazon.com: The Boy Who Conquered Everest: The Jordan Romero Story

This book describes the great adventurer Tenzing Norgay, a man to admire for his heroism and spirit. The illustrations are simply marvelous.

1.0 out of 5 stars VERY DISSAPOINTING, May 12, 2009
This review is from: Tiger of the Snows: Tenzing Norgay: The Boy Whose Dream Was Everest (Hardcover)
I'm rarely dissapointed with the books I buy from Amazon but this book was not at all what I expected. I thought it was a biography about Tenzing Norgay. Imagine my dissapointment when I got a childrens book...
