probably the best album of all time (if you are me),

tiger trap is definatly one of the most infuential and legendary bands in all indie-pop history... this album proves it! rose melberg (also of go sailor, the softies and gaze) was a major force in the group, but other members such as the great drummer (the amazing) heather dunn, (who now plays in various groups such as dub narcotic sound system, lois, the raincoats and the no nos') still continue to amaze me with their pojects since tiger trap's demise. i'm still smacking myself in the head for not seeing them more often before they broke up. -leon levy

Even though Tiger Trap were short lived and didn't make much of a mark of music, their debut album will always be something that I can listen to at all times. From beginning to end the album is basically perfect in that every song has a great hook to it and it never sounds boring. It always has an energy to it while never sacrificing melody. Good luck finding a record as filler free as this, it won't be easy.

Best Indie Album Ever!,
By Robin Sena (U.S,) - See all my reviews

This early work of Rose Melberg is probably her best, and I've heard almost everything that she has to offer(Go Sailor, The Softies, etc.) The punkish instrumentals blend perfectly with the very soft and sweet voice of Rose (I cannot say that I have heard a more gifted singer!!). This is one of my top 5 favorite CD's, and I have almost a thousand. It's a shame I did not hear about this band years ago. I wish she would have did a little more with this band, but her other work is equally as good. This album is a must have, along with Go Sailor and her extensive work with The Softies.

The perfect twee pop album?,

Never annoying like Beat Happening, never melodramatic like Black Tambourine, never monotonous like Rocketship, never soporific like Heavenly, never inconsistent like the Vaselines, no two songs sound the same like the Shop Assistants, never put out a string of increasingly poor albums like Belle and Sebastian (save the Life Pursuit), never boring, precious and entirely forgettable like pretty much every other twee/indie-pop band. Fast, fun, cute (but not cutesy). Great, memorable songs.

Tiger Trap original recordings (I think),

Super Crush is one of those rare songs that have the power to completely change the world, uplift it, end all wars and poverty, etc. I wonder sometimes when I hear this if they were thinking of Bratmobile's "Girlfriends Don't Keep", or at least the concept, since it all seemed to play out the same way. Those were the days. I got to hear some of the ex-members of Tiger Trap and Third Sex live at NoLife on Santa Monica Blvd. circa 1996. And they sold me a cassette, a t-shirt, and a sweatshirt all for $11. Such a deal.
