Phillip Pullman is a master at his craft. He weaves and winds his tale around and around. I was amazed at his ability to keep all the characters intact. What a good lead to follow. Sally is a "modern" 1800s British woman who is liberal and intelligent with her own money and business. She has a child out of wedlock who is 2 years old now and her lover long dead, she is about to lose her child also to an unsavory crook.Excellent storyline, amazing plot. Really enjoyed it! |
