Savage begins this lively account by describing his subject's experiences at the Masters and then backtracks to his successes and challenges in his rise to stardom. The athlete's personality, strong family ties, and determination emerge through his single-minded focus on being a world-class golfer. Good-quality, full-color photos appear throughout. Some knowledge of the game is helpful, but many terms are defined within the text and others, printed in bold letters, appear in a short glossary. Where opinion is given, the author documents his view with quotes from others. The lively style of writing combined with the color photographs give this biography an appealing edge over Allison Teague's Prince of the Fairway (Avisson, 1997), Aaron Boyd's Tiger Woods (Morgan Reynolds, 1997), and S.
