Book Description

"Tiger Woods: Doomed by Distraction" is a compelling, unauthorized, and first-of-its-kind look at the rise, fall, and ongoing comeback of embarrassed and embattled golf great Tiger Woods.

This Amazon Kindle exclusive from international bestselling author Michael Essany avoids the rehashing of rumors and explores the true personal and professional struggles of Tiger Woods yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

From alleged sex addiction, the loss of his father, and an obsession with the Navy SEALs, to his penchant for self-destructive behavior, diffusion of professional focus, and the emotional turbulence that seemingly defines his inner core, "Tiger Woods: Doomed by Distraction" highlights how and why the game's greatest golfer allowed the distractions of his demons to cloud - and potentially ruin - his storied career.

"I find it almost impossible to believe how an addiction to sex could change this man and turn his world upside down so quickly," says former E! Entertainment Television personality Mike Randazzo. "It seem like a traumatic episode triggered the emergence of some latent demons. In my opinion, I think the death of Tiger Woods' father was critical. The man who anchored Tiger, kept him focused and motivated, was suddenly gone. Tiger lived to make his father happy and proud. In that absence, Tiger Woods was - in many ways - the world's most simultaneously beloved and yet loneliest man. Tiger needed his dad to say centered."

Tiger Woods' love of competition has been widely likened to the passion possessed by another sports legend, Michael Jordan. Ironically, Jordan - who was famous if not infamous for his superhuman drive to win - was also accused of having "gone off the deep end" following his father's untimely but tragic death.

On October 6th, 1993, Michael Jordan dropped a bombshell on the sports world when he announced his retirement from basketball after a family tragedy that shattered Michael Jordan's world and shocked millions of fans around the world.

But unlike Michael Jordan, who left the game of basketball to clear his head, re-center himself, and continue to stoke his competitive fires in a healthy way, Tiger Woods doesn't appear to have worked through his anguish as productively.

1.0 out of 5 stars Marketing Scam - Don't Be "Doomed by Distraction" March 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
THIS IS NOT A BOOK! I am not even sure how this guy can call himself the "author". It's closer to a high school book report (or, to be kind, a research assistant's brief) offering nothing more than a dry, boiled-down recap of edited news reports/interviews one could easily find on Wikipedia. It took me less than 20 minutes to read it - cover to cover - and that was with several interruptions.

"Doomed by Distraction" is nothing more than a poorly composed high-level summary of the Tiger Woods scandal, and it's not even chronologically sound. For such a short "book report", Essany jumps around an awful lot and goes off on tangents, e.g., Michael Jordan's baseball career - WTF?. I believe this crap was created and released on the same date as the "Big Miss" as a marketing scam to take advantage of the buzz around Haney's book and dupe would-be buyers into purchasing this low-priced drivel.

So unless you've been incarcerated in a Siberian jailhouse since 2009 and will soon be tested on the high-points of the Tiger Wood's scandal, this "Cliff Note" Essany is pawning off as a book is a complete waste of money as it offers NOTHING you haven't already heard/read a thousand times over the last three years.

And Essany has the nerve to actually summarize some of the salacious tid-bits from Haney's new book (Tiger's fascination with becoming a Navy Seal)that played out in the media pre-release. Of course, Essany adds absolutely nothing original here. He just recaps what the media has very recently reported about Haney's book. What a sham!

I though I was buying real ground beef here, but it turned out to be the pink slime filler. They got my $. Don't let them get yours.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money!!! May 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am getting to really like Amazons ability to get good books out to people for a few dollars by cutting out the middle man.
The negative side is, they get books published like this "Doomed to Distraction"
This book is short (some magazine articles are longer") and most magazine editors would not even accept this article.
I normally don't write reviews, but I'm getting tired of friends and family writing 5 star reviews.

1.0 out of 5 stars Is this a book? April 11, 2012

This is more like a cut and paste effort from newspaper and internet articles. Very short and not much new information. I didn't think it was worth the money.

A rehash of information that is known about Tiger. I have read several books about Tiger and was expecting new information. This did not fill the bill. I would not recommend the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT a book! May 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a magazine article at best. It is a total rip-off of the more popular and expensive book that just came out. It offers no new information whatsoever.
