Gr 5-8-Woods's growth as a golfer is told in chronological order from his interest as a toddler to his success as a professional. The athlete's determination, his love for the game, and the importance of his family are obvious as Collins describes the celebrity's development through high school, athletic career at Stanford, and professional triumph. Average-quality, black-and-white sketches of Woods and his family are included. The occasional use of dialogue adds interest and a sense of reality to the text. A brief history of golf is included. About the Author

The late David Collins (1940-2001) wrote over sixty books for young readers and was an admired and respected educator. Believing that children can never have enough role models, Collins was dedicated to writing biographies for young readers to educate and entertain. His books have garnered praise from such publications as School Library Journal, the Book Report, the Polish American Journal, and the Catholic Post.

Tiger Woods is one of the greatest athletes living today. Not only is he a great golfer, he is a great person. He shares his money with clinics that help young people learn to play golf.I liked the book because it told his life story and showed what a winner he is.
