Crosby has been helping young athletes for 30 years. His most notable student was Tiger Woods, whom he coached in high school from 1991 to 1994. With the assistance of author Dale, Crosby reveals the techniques that helped shape a champion. The strategy is based on five steps: practice, the short game, putting, course management, and statistics. Complete with recollections and anecdotes plus numerous photos and diagrams, the book is a good read for golfers of all ages. Hyder's Golf Skills is a full-color photographic presentation offering over 100 tips on improving a golfer's game. Complete with index and golfing terms, the publication is divided into two parts. Section 1 focuses on faults and remedies, examining slices, hooks, mishits, the short game, and putting. Section 2 features professional tips, emphasizing strokes off the tee, shots to the green, and an advanced short game. Hyder is the head professional at the East Sussex National Golf Club and a PGA tournament referee. While both volumes assume that the reader is looking for advice on how to rectify a problem, Hyder's work takes the more practical approach, providing easy-to-follow instructions and pictures that are worth the proverbial thousand words. About the Author

Don Crosby has been a teacher and a sports coach for more than 30 years, coaching thousands of athletes. From 1991 to 1994 he coached Tiger Woods at Western High School. He lives in California. James Dale is the author of The Working Woman Book, The Joys of Motherhood, Together We Were Eleven Foot Nine, and The Power of Nice. He is the creator of humorous greeting card lines, calendars, and gifts. He has also written for TV and feature films. He lives in Maryland.

When I spotted this book in the bookstore I cynically thought "Here is Tiger Wood's high school coach trying to make a few bucks off of Tiger's name when we all know that Tieger was an outstanding golfer before he entered high school." I bought the book anyway and now I'm glad I did. This book gives the average golfer practical advice on how to practice,keep statistics,etc. It is totally different than any other golf book I have read. I have followed the practice routine outlined by the author for two weeks and have already noticed an improvement. After reading this book I am excited about my golf game because I know I am going to improve. The book is also sprinkled with Tiger anecdotes which illustrate points the author is making. I'm so happy that I saw past my original cynicism and purchased this book. Mr. Crosby, thanks for a great book.

A very sensible approach to cutting your handicap! The author maintains that he only has 3 months to develop a winning team; and he can't screw with swing planes etc. He needs to improve the teams scores. He lays out the strategy nicely.

...the book is a great incentive for any golfer who wants to set goals for their game and needs to develop a good practice routine. Interesting stories and photos about Tiger in his high school days and practical advice from Coach Crosby. Highly recommended by this player. Wonderful gift for the golfer in your life.
