The biggest update over Tiger Woods 2000 is the speed of the graphics. Last year's version was terminally slow and choppy, especially when using the chase camera. This year things are smoothed out. The scenery graphics still look great, but the golfers look tired and pasted on. All except for Woods, that is, as he must have had it in his contract that his animations would look perfect. As it stands, his are the only swing, celebration, and frustration animations that are in sync with the action.
Tiger Woods 2001 still features the best three-click swing method on the block. It even gives you easy-to-follow hints while you're learning the game. These tutorials just aren't available in other golf games. Tiger's "mouse swing" is awful however, easily the worst around. The mouse doesn't track as intuitively or as well as it does in the Microsoft or Sierra golf games.
Tiger Woods 2001 contains a few great courses and the gameplay is solid. It's recommendable to golf fans looking for a "lighter" game, even if at the expense of a decent mouse swing and a certain amount of realism. It's also the only game in town featuring the inestimable Mr. Woods. --Bob Andrews

Play like Tiger!,
This review is from: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2001 (CD-ROM)
Well, at least on the computer. PGA Tour 2001 is better in many aspects compared to last years game. You can play a regular round of golf, match play, presidents cup or just practice if you like. Basically, its tough to get bored. This game consists of two cd's packed with different courses to play. Although the game is good, I still think the Links LS series is a little better, but in this game you can play as Tiger. The graphics are good, problem is you really need a fast, newer video card to be able to handle it, otherwise it looks blocky. The players swings are very crisp and smooth as well. I guess if there is any downside, its that the system requirements are fairly steep, but it does still look good on older machines. If you are thinking about buying a golf game for your computer I would give this game a try along with Links LS, both are very similar, and you won't go wrong with either game.

TW 2001 is not bad,except the graphics.instead of seeing a nice smooth swing it's choppy most of the time.Adding 3 new courses and 2 new players was great,but the graphics problem really takes away from it.It is a small improvement from last year's though.I would suggest you get and try it out and wait until TW 2002 and hope they improve it.

An excellent golf simulation, with a few flaws.,

Although TW2001 is a great golf sim, I'd have to give it a 4.5 (Rounded up to 5). With TW2000, if you had enough speed, hard drive space, and RAM, it was definitely worth buying. The same thing applies for 2001. But if you're not going to be using Course Architect, you can save the extra space, and you can always install it later. If you own and have played past versions of the game, it takes getting used to with the new interface. The graphics are great. With a 366 Mhz Pentium II, and 128MB SDRAM, I was very pleased with the results. The golfers' animations are perfectly timed. The course layouts and designs are very accurate. The course selection is a nice variety. A total of 17 courses. The 3 new courses are TPC at Sugarloaf, TPC at River Highlands, and Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. The gameplay was very nice. Driving was as easy as before, and the same thing goes with the other types of swings. And the putting is much better when compared to Links LS. And just like earlier versions, TW2001 is backwards compatible with the earlier versions, earlier expansions, and more recent expansions in the EA Sports PGA Tour System of Golf. The best new feature is the President's Cup, where you can choose the golfers for the two teams and also allows you to have created players entered by selecting on the settings which President's Cup Team he/she is eligible for. Even with a few flaws, TW2001 is still definitely worth buying! 2115|R2X7QMJIV2UAYB;2115|R3HN9R6TPQ5LZQ;2115|R2W1HNJ8BY0UNJ;
