great game play,

This review is from: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002 (CD-ROM)
The true-swing feature is great. It replicates real golf more accurately than the silly two- or three-click method. It's a little slow, but tolerable. The tournament play is nice, and being able to go through a PGA tour season makes it much more like the other great EA offerings. They should adjust the algorithms in Pro tournament play. You end up with a lot more golfers under par in at the end of a TW2002 tourney than in a real tourney. It's the best golf sim I've played...

Nice graphics, horrible game play,

I am running a very well equipped Dell. For those who have a top of the line system, Tiger Woods 2002's graphics cannot be beat. If you are running a slower system, buy TW99 .... If you enjoy having to play for hours straight before even learning how to drive the fairway, then TW2002 is for you. I put in hours upon hours of play in TW99 and expected my proficiency to turn over for this game; it did not. Putting is hellish, and putting draw and fades on the ball is just short of immpossible. The only reason this game got any stars at all is because of the graphics. I have returned mine and will revert back to TW99 or the latest version of LINKS. There is not target indicator and for the non die hard gamer this game will merely instill deep frustration.

Nice looking game, but buggy,

I have to admit I had high expectations when I bought this game. EA Sports does a great job with their games and I have never been disappointed, until now.The game does look great. The courses are spectacular. The commentary, while it does get repetitive, is a lot better than in their other games. They do a good job of reflecting what is going on in game. What I don't like is how buggy it is. A good example is the stored replays of the Best Putt. In Best Shot it works fine, but on Best Putt there is no button to exit the replay. The only way I found to get out was the 3 finger salute. I've also experienced quite a few crashes while playing the game, which I've never had happen with my other EA Sports games. Another feature I don't like is pointer arrow when you are aiming your shot. It doesn't seem to take the features of the course into consideration. It generally points to the flag, regardless of what lies between you and the flag. The tiny overhead view on the side isn't very good at telling what to expect, so I've had too many cases of driving my ball into the ocean. If I could have seen what was up ahead better, I could have compensated for that. This is a fun game when it works correctly, but the bugs are far too frustrating for me.

I have always been a big Tiger Woods fan and I really like the graphics and the layout of the various golf courses. It's a very challenging game, but I enjoy simulating what Tiger Woods would do in playing each hole on the golf course and the strategy needed to make par or better. I love playing this game!Even if you are not an avid golfer, it is a very enjoyable yet challenging game to master.

having been an avid golf game player I've played almost all the games offered.two things I like about Tiger2002 is that they've added from PGA Championship Edition their true swing feature, also I've found that I can add the courses from PGA Championship Edition, giving me around twenty eight different courses. For me the only drawback is I'd like to see more golfers, for instance Mickleson and Daly. I've enjoyed Tiger2002 since I purchased it

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002 comes close to matching LS2001,

First, I am avid pc golf fan ever since the orignal PGA Golf came out years back. While I think Links has better game play golf wise, Tiger's PGA is nothing to complain about for it does have solid game play in its own right. The graphics in my opinion is much better in Tiger Woods PGA than Links 2001, I still don't get when the ball lands in Links you see a little trail line (unrealistic!). The trees actually move, ball splashes and leaves ripples in the water, and the crowd actually moves unlike Links where all you see is dots flying across the screen (these are supposed to be birds). Online play is better in Links for you have more options and from what I hear TWPT20002 is only supposed to be good for a year (which isn't bad I guess). Designing a course is a little easier with Tiger's PGA than it is with Links 2001, so I might switch over to Tiger Woods PGA.

I guess it all depends on your cpu....,

Do not be discouraged....This is a fun golf sim to play! I guess Computers are like people. Ha! I hope not. It runs fine on my CPU. I'm using a Dell 8100 Pentium 4 with a Radeon 32MB graphic card. I like the challenge and the gameplay as much as the graphics. Highly recommended for people who like EA sports games, no matter what the critics say. P.S. They've added a patch! so don't be afraid...just buy it!..AZ

I bought this today to play on my laptop which easily meets the minimum requirements but the game looks terrible. the game play is pretty fun, though. I like the pros and the courses but this doesn't look nearly as good as Links. Definitely not as realistic - it looks sort of cartoony but maybe it's time to upgrade my PC...

A must buy for golfers and those who just like playing on game and PC platforms. I read every review, veiwed every screen shot. I must say this is thebest golf game i have seen in a while. Awesome Graphics, good and realistic gameplay. I think this series will be better than the links series, here are some of the features: Brand new course lineup includes such amazing layouts as Pebble Beach Golf Links®, TPC at Sawgrass™, Royal Birkdale in England, and more! |
