The regular 07 version for classic xbox is the best golf game ever made. This one however, is not the same! I have no idea why they would alter it so much - really butchered it into a piece of crap. If you want the fun version, get the old one!

This review is from: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (Video Game)
Last year's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 launched with the Xbox 360 in a good fashion, standing among the best of the launch's numerous sports titles. Last year I concluded my review of Tiger 06 saying, "I hope next year's version of Tiger is fleshed out and features more while continuing to improve on the great gameplay." Well, Tiger 07 is just that game I hoped for. It's a fleshed-out and well-done edition of a fine sports franchise, and now stands near the top of the Xbox 360's stack of sports titles.

Tiger 06 initially whipped me. It beat me into shape and forced me to learn the subtle things about golf, the things that make the ball roll just a little closer or land at a better spot on the course. It, however, could eventually become the easiest video game around. Tiger 07 looks to change this, forcing even more realistic difficulty into the gameplay. The core mechanics remain mostly unchanged-you still swing dynamically with the left analog stick, pulling back to backswing and pushing forward to foreswing. However, this year's game has a little twist; rather than Tiger 06's arrow that showed you where exactly your ball should land, Tiger 07 features a wide aiming area on each shot. This circular area represents where your ball can possibly land. Unless the golfer makes perfect contact and accurately judges the lie, the wind, and the spin on the ball, it is entirely possible for the ball to end up yards away from where it was intended to land.

Fortunately it's as simple as ever to take a shot and after practice it's quite easy to learn all of Tiger's tricks. Things like the wind and the lie only require a little time to get a feel for. I noticed that hitting the ball off of the side of a hill now has a very dramatic effect on where it will go in the air, and it feels almost like backspin and topspin on the ball no longer send the ball flying in the intended direction when it lands. Though the game is noticeably tougher and definitely punishing, Tiger 07 is difficult to put down.

You'll start Tiger 07 by creating your golfer with the deep Game Face system. My golfer looked so much like me that it was almost scary to look at him on the course. Following that, the game offers a long and engaging career mode; one that sends you week after week playing through tournaments at familiar courses like Riviera, Pinehurst, and Pebble Beach as well as Bandon Dunes, Carnoustie, Firestone Country Club, and more. The amount of courses I just rambled off is equal to last year's puny list of six, and Tiger 07 features even more. Similar to real life, getting better in your career can only be done by playing more. At first, this is difficult; your golfer's initially a total chump on the course. By performing golfing drills, competing in golfing games, and most simply, playing, your golfer's stats will raise and your on-the-course performance will improve. All of the stat changes are dynamic. By hitting a lot of lucky shots, your Luck stat will increase. Getting close on approach shots will improve your overall Approach stat, and using the game's Power Boost ability (jam a button to increase the power of a shot in mid-swing), you'll benefit from a bigger Power Boost stat. Tiger 07 doesn't give you a lot of freebies; to get better at the game you just have to play more. After a while you'll be blasting the ball down the fairway and having no trouble with that aiming area.
Tiger 06 looked great on the Xbox 360, and somehow Tiger 07's added even more detail to the beautiful courses. EA's Universal Capture technology looks great on Tiger Woods but all of the other characters animate well and swing animations look great. The fans that crowd the course are a little too numerous but it's interesting and cool to see them walk towards your ball and follow you around the course. The commentary, done by the same two fellows from Tiger 06, isn't much different. It's very appropriate to golf, and it's fun to hear them mock each other from time to time. I especially like when one of them calls my shot incorrectly and the other says, "What are you talking about? That was a great shot " Every virtual golfer needs a confidence boost from time to time.

Tiger 07 plays better than any Tiger before it, it looks beautiful, it sounds great, it comes chock-full of modes...the list goes on and on; EA Redwood did a fantastic job. As a result, the second next-gen golf title is a winner. Though it's a little tough at first, Tiger 07 has few flaws and it's one of the better next-gen sports titles. Virtual golfers should definitely check it out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than 06. Solid., October 19, 2006

Well EA has improved on their xbox 360 title over last year. The content is greatly increased in the form of more courses and more items available in the proshop. Game play is great. I must admit the change to the big ring for aiming was a bit different. My new character lacks consistency. One shot may be okay but the next one is way off which let's face it is more like golf.

There is *finally* a driving range available to us in this game. We can hit that bucket of balls. What took them so long to figure out that there should be a driving range in a golf game? Was that a huge leap?

For the most part I really like the new look and feel. I know that I'll be playing golf all winter now. There will be new tournements and even the fedex cup to look forward to so start building up your golfers.

I give this title 4 stars. It's a solid game and anyone who enjoys the game of golf will feel right at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Golf Game!!!!, October 26, 2006

Tiger Woods 07 on the 360 is a big improvement over past games. I used to have a big problem with this series because it was way too easy to shoot in the 50's and every drive was right down the middle. EA has made the game much more enjoyable buy increasing the difficulty with the landing area circle. The putting system is now real good. Kind of like the Hot Shot game where grid lines are used as opposed to a caddy telling you where to hit the ball. Graphics are pretty good. Some courses look almost real like the water on Firestone, but some other courses look last generation to me. The only fault I can find is with the tournaments. The other pro's will shoot rounds close to what you shoot. Example: If I shoot +25 they will all shoot bad. Overall if you like golf this is a must have!!!!!

Ah, very nice. This is the most fun i've had on my 360 since Elder Scrolls Oblivion! A few of the other reviews i've read have stated that this game is extremely DIFFICULT, I would say it is now challenging and not extremely EASY like previous installments.

The graphics are sweet! Shadowing is incredible, the details on all of the players is great and the surround sound is very cool!

One thing that is pretty snazzy is the espn radio highlights you can recieve while your in a menu. I can get all of my scores and news while I customize my golfer or figure what type of game I am going to play.

Sorry to the previous posters who gave this anything under 4 stars but your way off on this one! This is the best golf game since the Links series. It's worth the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Boiling blood frustration + fun + addiction = Woods 07, November 12, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (Video Game)
Well, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 has received a overhaul of changes. Namely
the difficulty (which can be changed) from previous installments which, seemed at times, were plagued with easy arcade-esque almost thoughtless
gameplay has been greatly overhauled and re-thought as it has been mixed with a witches stew. This season experiences the other side of spectrum; downright blood boiling gameplay. Your shot stick is tightly taylored to what is captured on screen. A slight shank in ur shot stick movement can equal heartbreaking play. Drives are especially difficult this year. As you will lose many balls due to its overly tight logistics. Tiger woods always kept you coming back with its addicting and fun gameplay. This year is no different but not without moments of wanted to throw your 360 console out the window. Shanking ur ball off of drives happen way to frequently even despite my previous experience. The same stick movements
that would have been perfectly placed drives in previous versions have translated to nightmares this season. I'm forced to look down at my thumb to make sure it is in perfect position to make a shot. But who wants to have to continually look at their controller to make sure ur moving ur thumb in a perfect motions. I should be more concerned about whats going on screen. If I wanted this much realism, I would have hooked my clubs up to the 360 via USB. The tideous capture haunts my dreams. If I wanted to bogey every hole, I would have gone out for real. I don't want my video game golf to emulate my real-life score-card. I want to be a genius. And in 07, being a genius is possible but not without many, many stumbles and humbling experience. Sometimes thinking too much about a shot will send ur ball into OB land. Other times, I rush the shot -- most times this works for drives, other times not so much. I actually fear walking up to the tee this as in 05 and 06, I could walk up to the tee in almost sheer confidence that I was going to spank one into the open fairway. This year, I'm about 50/50. 50 end up
in the fairway. 25 into the near rough, 25 into the nether region. What bothers me most is that I can't detect what I do differently -- I never really know when I'll shank one. And when I do, I want to break my controller. Besides its undaunting and dreadful difficulty, the changes
made are relief as season to season, Tiger was always a breeze that made me feel like a flaweless golfer; a kid sucking on a lollipop. This year I feel like I am actually golfing as i grind my teeth on mis-shots, feel like stomping on my controller into pieces on OBs and other various temper-induced events that real golf brings to the table. Like real golf, the frustration factor gets to be overwhelming but I find myself coming back for more as I love the challenge.

But there's room, a lot of room, for growth. And that's where this game always places you in its snare. As you progress, thus will your skills. And you will find yourself less often shanking balls into hazards. Find urself in tears after each drive, make to sure purchase gear that will attribute to ur driving accuracy skill. What's different than previous seasons is that you will not be able to pick where ur skill attributes go after each event, skills increase if you did well in that area of play during that event. Hence if you drove the ball well that round, your power, driving accuracy skills will increase. If you your approach is on, ur approach will increase. If your putting was uncanny, your putting skill will increase. etc etc. What's good is that you can't lose skill attributes only grow upon them. Gear such as pants, shirts, gloves, clubs, shafts, glasses and other items can be purchased. Some items have skill pts attributed to them which increase ur skills in those areas specified. Yes, that pink hat clashes with my green shirt but it gives me 2 driving power pts and 1 driving accuracy, thus its skill over style everytime.

What I was absolutely amazed with is create-a-player mode which is simply uncanny. I was able to sculpt my golfer to look almost exactly like my real life counterpart thanks to superb graphics, a powerful engine and a slew of create-a-player options that puts any sports genre to shame.

In game graphics will blow your mind. The environments are expansive, hi-def and gorgeous. The camera angles and player animations are superb and flat on. So much so, you almost wish the PGA took a few lessons from EA.

If you looking for cake gameplay and thoughtless arcade-esque play like in previous versions, run! If your looking for change, amazing next-gen graphics, luscious courses and a blood boiling challenge -- look no further. This is the closest you'll get to real golf on ur 360. Tip: Buy extra controllers as ur sure to break a few in this series.

I've been a pretty big fan of the Tiger Woods series since they have introduced the new swing system. Tiger Woods 06' for 360 was a big disappointment so I was really looking for an improvement this year. They introduced some new courses giving a little more of a variety. A big improvement is the Gameface option. There are a lot of different customization options available to taylor your golfer however you choose. Overall the game is a big improvement on last years. A lot of the modes are still the same and I haven't had a chance to play on Live yet. The putting system is new and also takes a little time to get used to. I really wish I could see a create a course option and some of the custom courses from previous Tiger Woods titles to be included with next years game. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This review is from: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (Video Game)
I have really enjoyed playing this game. It is very realistic. I have played the Bandon Dunes course in So Oregon many times, and the Tiger Woods version plays exactly like it does in real life. Based on that, I imagine that the other courses play very true to form also.

I only wish there were more courses on this game. Or, you had the ability to purchase add on courses...that is the only minus.

One other wish...my TWoods player has an average drive of 320 yds...it would be nice if I could do that in real life!

Great game overall! And great graphics and training area!

This review is from: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (Video Game)
The Game is awesome if you play it on the tour pro level. It is missing some things like the daily challenges in other tiger woods. The graphics are awesome. The Courses are very cool but it is missing several of the fantasy courses from past years. Overall I would definetly buy the game if you are a TGW fan.
