3.0 out of 5 stars Light reading for pregnancy, May 3, 2005
This review is from: Tight Squeeze (Motherhood Club, Book 1) (Paperback)
TIGHT SQUEEZE BY DEBBIE DIGIOVANNI is a delightful little novel about the saga of being a mother. Any mother can identify with the specific trials and tribulations of Becca who finds herself pregnant with her fifth child when her first is nearing the end of high school. Wanting to run away from it all she retreats to her schooldays friend whose footloose and fancy free lifestyle looks so very appealing. Together on an escape vacation they face good and bad memories while planning to look great for their high school reunion. The novel follows the pregnancy and the mid-life crisis of self doubt which Becca faces as she grows "fatter." While following her escape dreams she finds her true self and the joy of motherhood with all the trials children of every stage of life bring and is able to face caring for her new baby with the original thrill she felt on her first day of being a mother. Throughout her growth her husband and family are both trying and supportive, as realistic as all families. The book is one every mom will identify with and will bring smiles and tears.

This book is a selection of the new Mothehood Club "Making a Difference One Kiss at a Time" an innovation of Howard Publishing Co

5.0 out of 5 stars All Moms Should Read This, October 30, 2007
This review is from: Tight Squeeze (Motherhood Club, Book 1) (Paperback)
The main character, Colorado resident Becca Joy, is pregnant with her fifth - count 'em - fifth child. She doesn't know if she can handle it. With her oldest son wanting to attend college in far away Hawaii, Becca is simultaneously having empty nest syndrome and pregnancy cravings. There to help her is her lifelong best friend, Allie. Allie surprises her friend with a spa trip. But in the meantime, there is the perfect, Martha Stewart neighbor next door, an eccentric and irritating mother-in-law, and an even more irritating sister to deal with.

Author Debbie DiGiovanni is Christian, and her book has a few Scriptural and spiritual references. Not at all heavy handed, the religious overtones are as light as sunshine. Christians will appreciate the book more, but anyone can enjoy the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hip Mom-lit, September 20, 2006
This review is from: Tight Squeeze (Motherhood Club, Book 1) (Paperback)
I"m neither married nor pregnant but reading about Becca Joy's (i love that name) situation was a fun ride. I could relate with her about her relationship with her sister. The children are not annoying and the husband actually helps out around the house instead of acting clueless. Also reading about the spa trip was fun since I've always want to go to one but havent' had to the chance too. A way to live vicarously through the characters. My only gripe is the perfect neighbor. While there's nothing wrong with seeing someone who appeares to have it all together, Becca's neighbor seemed a little too perfect. By the end of the story there appears to be not one single flaw with her. That didn't seem real. Other than that a great fun read for anyone who enjoys light chick/mom-lit.

5.0 out of 5 stars What fun!, April 11, 2006
This review is from: Tight Squeeze (Motherhood Club, Book 1) (Paperback)
Tight Squeeze was a breeze to read! The characters were modern and real as was the zippy dialogue.

The main character, Becca, is delightful in her quirkiness and very believable. No stiff Churchlady fiction, but a great story with modern twists and turns. Debbie Digiovanni is a gifted writer with a sharp sense of humor-Excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easily recommended., July 22, 2005
This review is from: Tight Squeeze (Motherhood Club, Book 1) (Paperback)
Debbie Digiovanni creates an engaging, light-hearted story in Tight Squeeze. With entertaining family situations and the initial shock of being pregnant with a fifth child, this story brings many chuckles and maybe a tear or two over some tender moments. A great read for any woman expecting a baby, or a mother looking back at those wonderful memories of pregnancy and motherhood.
