Big First Disclosure...
I haven't been is college for so much as a night class in over two decades... So I am far from the target audience of "Little Brazil", I don't go to clubs, or hang out with college age kids, except my own, and, as I age, my young bosses at work, which is how a middle aged man from California hears an "Indie Rock" band form Nebraska. A few years ago very young senior management office holder was transferred to my site, and in our effort to bridge the generation gap and find common ground, we found that we had both spent time in Wales, and shared an eclectic love of music. After sharing CD's back and forth, Mrs. Maxwell gave me a copy of Little Brazil's "You and Me" and told me her Husband's brother was the Bass player. It has been a secret favorite of mine sever since. Recently I bought a copy of the Band's newest release, "Tighten the Noose" and in this outing, the band is showing a slightly more mature sound, and a much more decisive theme to the overall music. The downside is still, that the band doesn't take out flaws in the studio, a couple of harsh instances of amp feedback got my ears while I had the CD cranked up in my truck on the way home from work last week, but I'm old, so for all I know it is intentional, but it did bother me. Compared with say Arizona favorites "The Reign Kings", American Idol's Chris Sligh's band "Half Past Forever", or Lava Record's "Antigone Rising", it seems slightly less professional, but that's just me, and I do like this record. The other thing about the CD is it is very dark in mood, I keep seeing flashes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer when I listen, it seems like Little Brazil should be the band playing at "The Bronze", that's just me as well, but if they ever make a movie... To wrap up though... If you aren't from the Mid West, this is a very good band that you may have never heard of but should hear! |
