Surprisingly it works very well.
C.N,
It's very evident that there is some sort of seal everytime you open and close the lid because of the swooshing noise that comes out from the lid.
Andy
These work very well at keeping coffee beans fresh.

Easy to use and does the job. What more needs to be said? I bought the clear canister so I can put the coffee label inside (I usually keep two varieties on hand). Some will argue that you need to buy the opaque one to keep the light from the beans, but I don't think enough light is going to get to the beans to matter (unless you're keeping the canisters in direct sunlight).

Highly recommended.

I found these neat coffee vacuum containers while I was looking for the best way to store my precious coffee beans. I like the idea of how they work, although I'm not sure that the seal does everything they say it does. My coffee seems fresh, and every time you open/close the container you get a nice waft of the fresh coffee. My only complaint with this container is that the release button is at the top of the canister. I find myself, and other people, picking the container up with one hand by grasping the lid. Sometimes your finger ends up on the button, and more than a few times I've almost had the lid slide off. Other than this, theres not much more I would change about this product.

The photos of the container doesn't really do justice. There's a little button on the lid that keeps a tight seal with a little valve mechanism on the inside. It's very evident that there is some sort of seal everytime you open and close the lid because of the swooshing noise that comes out from the lid. Otherwise, it's big and roomy enough for a pound of coffee and scooper. Perfect.

I bought this recently to hold espresso beans. I've only had it a few days but I really like the container. I'm not convinced that the seal is airtight (It's probably not), but it seals pretty well. The thing to realize when purchasing this is that the black top is basically only held on by the vacuum. The problem is that to anyone who hasn't seen the container before, it looks like the top either screws on, latches, or is secured some other way. I've only had this a few days but I already saw 2 people pick it up by the top at first to check it out. The lid separates almost instantly when you press the little button on the lid, but again if someone is picking it up by the lid and also happens to press the button, its going to eject the container and all its delicious coffee beans onto the floor. This isn't a huge deal and obviously the answer is "don't pick it up by the top", but it's not always possible to explain to it to everyone before they decide to pick it up.

Other than that issue, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to open the container with one hand, but my hands seem big enough to do so. My hand is a little over 7 inches from edge of my wrist to the top of my index finger and it doesn't seem to be a problem. If my hands were a bit smaller I could see it requiring two hands to open (one to lift the lid, the other to press the release). That could be obnoxious if you're multitasking in the kitchen while making your coffee. Despite that, I feel like it's a pretty good price for a nice sized container. I've never stored my beans in another type of container, but this is a huge step up from the disposable bags that the coffee comes in.

Pros:
+Good Price
+Good Size
+Does a good job of preserving beans.

Let me start off by saying this is not a true vacuum sealed chamber. It only prevents air from entering or exiting the chamber.

The container creates a tight seal using only the plastic from the lid and body. Surprisingly it works very well. I can easily fill the chamber with liquid or coffee beans and hold it only grabbing the lid and it doesn't slip or slide off.

The lid comes off easily when you press the button and pull apart. Putting the lid on requires pressing the button to expel the air while closing the lid.

Great price, easy to use, and fits its function perfectly.

Just be warned: I bought this because it is sold as a "1 pound" container - but check the dimensions before you buy - it's big enough to hold probably 2 or more pounds of coffee beans. Having said that,.it closes quite snugly but it is not completely air-tight. It's made so well that I'm going to order the 1/2 pound one which I think -- based on the dimensions -- should hold a 12-ounce bag of the coffee beans I use.
