Ola c`e pasa amigos this is one seriously good album compadre's it has a great mixed bag of melodic & down dirty blues tunes for everyone north & south of the border.Tasty guitar playing is the order of the day with a hot chilli rythm section to burn your lips and if thats not enough the packaging is so cool it will knock you off your burro.
After listening to this album all you want to do is shout "Asta la vista" this is a bible every hotel should have........Adios amigo's.

This album is a "must have" for any fans of Texas Blues Music - It Rocks from beginning to end, no filler here! Jim is a master of the blues guitar (why else would George Thorogood recruit him to play lead for his band?) & definitely deserves more recognition than he receives. At Any Rate - BUY THIS ALBUM - YOU"LL LOVE IT!

The Border Rock of Jim Suhler!,
By
This review is from: Tijuana Bible (Audio CD)
If you like Texas blues-rock, please check this CD out!
If you like Jim Suhler, you will LOVE this one from the band! 16 tracks of blazing, Suhler-styled Texas/border blues and rock that will keep you captivated and unable to turn the music off-at least it does that for me. My favorites on this are: "Drunken Hearted Boy"-Elvin Bishop joins Jim and MB on this one and plays some of the sickest, liquor-soaked slide guitar I've heard in a while. "Black Sky"-A GREAT driving song, about being caught in a menacing storm while out on the road. Fast-paced. "Deep Water Lullaby"-VERY liquor-soaked and a slower number, and sweet as a candy cane! Just sink down in your car seat and put this one on and you'll chill like ice! "Years of Tears" A slower bluesy number, with a haunting tone. A great night driving song! "Border Rock"-My personal favorite from the album, you'll feel like you're in Texas with the band, a billion miles from your job, responsibilities, etc. Very upbeat and catchy. "Sunday Drunk"-Another upbeat, catchy great one, which not only brightens up your mood but showcases Jim's stellar voice as well. The others: "Tijuana Bible"-A slower number, as another reviewer put it, nothing wild or frenetic, but starts off the CD to give the listener a preview of the album's theme. "Cold Light of Day"-An interesting number here, a little different from the rest of the album but don't pass this one up. "I Could've Had Religion" and "Juice" are both numbers that to me don't quite make up the best of the album but give 'em a try-maybe you will like them! It's Monkeybeat, that's the important thing. "Chaos in Texas"-A slower, chilling song that will have you looking over your shoulder. As Jim sais, "All Hell's broken loose baby..." "Po' Lightnin'"-On this track, a slower one, Jim pays homage to a blues hero of his, Lightnin' Hopkins. "Devil In Me"-A good, solid track that does pick up the pace after the title track. Very bluesy but uptempo and Texas flavored. "Up to My Neck in You"-An AC/DC cover, done with pure fire and energy by Monkeybeat. Very rockin' and a Jim Suhler fan favorite. "Long, Hot Summer"-A slower paced track, about exactly what the title infers. You'll feel the heat listening to this one. "Mexicali Run"-IMO probably the most Texas-blues oriented track on the disc. Texas blues fans should enjoy this one, I frankly was very well reminded os Stevie Ray listening to this one. One thing that cannot be said enough that along with Jim and Monkeybeat's great playing ability, is Jim's voice-that is a BIG part of what makes me a Monkeybeat fan. He has a very haunting tone and he can carry himself well, be it slower or faster-paced numbers. Pick this CD up, get into the car, tell your problems to go FAR AWAY and enjoy this one!
