4.0 out of 5 stars Bottom line - the coolest!
First, the bottom line: This CD is the coolest! A slight break from the Voodoobilly stuff of previous CD's which dealt with tiki men, mad scientists and zombies, the monsters of Tijuanna Hit Squad are more human. Here we have hit men, lifers, midwestern psychos and serial killers ( though don't be surprised if Satan puts in an appearance in a big black limo )...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not my favorite
While I love this band, I have to say this is my least favorite CD of theirs. Instead of the sort of macabre humor displayed in their other albums, they go a little too far and it becomes more an album about going about and killing. I love it when they are funny about it, but if it is just a song about stabbing someone with a shank, no thanks.

That being said the...

First, the bottom line: This CD is the coolest! A slight break from the Voodoobilly stuff of previous CD's which dealt with tiki men, mad scientists and zombies, the monsters of Tijuanna Hit Squad are more human. Here we have hit men, lifers, midwestern psychos and serial killers ( though don't be surprised if Satan puts in an appearance in a big black limo ). Already famous for their icy and relentless instrumentation and darkly funny lyrics which never cross the line into mere novelty, Deadbolt comes through again with what may be their best yet. Refreshingly narrative song writing and a high body count make this a two fisted must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars mr. blonde starts a band, March 15, 2000
This review is from: Tijuana Hit Squad (Audio CD)
let's say there were some guys that kill for a living, and these guys got caught and went into the witness relocation program. But after the goverment checks stopped coming they had to do something...."let's start a band" one says, "what will we sing about?" asks another. "well about what we used to do! of course!" and thus started the scariest band in the world. they could tie me up,cut off my ear and cover me in gasoline any day!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hell hath no furry like Deadbolt spurned, August 6, 2004

I am writing this review only to correct the poor, misguided souls who gave this album less than 5 stars. Forgive them, lord, for they know not what they do.

When the final chapter of mankind's history is written, Deadbolt will be among the pantheon of true geniuses burped up every few eons like Plato, Archimedes, Descartes and Nietzsche. With songs like "A Hit Gone Wrong," "The Day I Got My Spine Back," "She's a Snake" and the brilliance of "Goin to Witchata" history can never treat Deadbolt too kindly. You'll see.

So repent you misguided souls or else I'll send Patches the Clown to put the curly arm on 'ya (and maybe a wine stain or twisted skipper too).

Best of the DB releases. Listen to this CD on a warm night driving down I-5 towards Mexico with only a bottle of Presidente Brandy and a wad of rolled-up $50s on the passenger seat to keep you company - and you will understand. GFY.

I was absolutely hooked by this album. Surf music with a royal attitude. Lyrics are violent and cool, yet they don't really take themselves seriously. Probably one of the most atmospheric albums I ever heard. I love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relentless!, February 18, 2006

This album is a no-holds barred trip into the mob world in true Deadbolt style. This cd has a faster pace compared to their other releases and really shows off the bands musicianship. It's murder and mayhem with a tongue-in-cheek attitude! This cd lacks the usual creepiness the band's known for, but the theme definitely fits their style. Stand outs include "Convict Man", "Dad, Why Did My Friends Explode?", "Conductor", and the awesome "Goin' to Witchita". The guitar playing on this disc blows my mind! Buy it, enjoy it, and become a hitman!

That being said the last track is in fact up to their usual standards, being "Dad, why did my friends explode." Very funny dark humor.
