Product Description

If one were to judge a game strictly by its looks, Tiki Topple would certainly come out on top in our book. From the unique set of colorful carved Tiki pieces to the rich illustrations, this is one of the most beautiful games we've ever produced. Yet what really makes this game shine is that, alongside the gorgeous graphics, stands a game design that is equal in richness and elegance. As with all of our favorite games, Tiki Topple is simple to learn while offering a challenge every time it's played.

Tiki Topple is a quick, easy, and fun family board game. The object is to move your three tikis to the top to score points each round. To do this, you start with a handful of cards that let you move tikis up, drop tikis to the bottom, and eliminate tikis from the board. The two-player game is much more strategic, as you must plan out when to use each card. The three and four-player games are a bit more of a free for all, and you'll be fighting just to keep your tikis on the board. The game moves very quick. Each round takes only a few minutes, and the whole game takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The board and pieces are high quality and very colorful. The recommended age is 10 and older, but younger children should be able to pick it up after a few rounds. Tiki Topple is manufactured by Gamewright, a company that specializes in fun and educational games for families with young children.

Tiki Topple is a fun, fast game that is easy to learn. However, the more you play this game and depending on whom you play it with, its very challenging. There is some luck to it, also strategy, but not in a hard-thinking sort of way since you are limited by a number of action cards. Everyone has the same number and types of actions, but since each player has a differnt goal, no game is ever the same.

The game is well constructed. The board is made from heavy cardboard. The tikis and scoremarkers are wooden and the cards are nice and heavy. I highly recommend this game for its durability, ease of learning/teaching and fun.

We love Gamewright games, but this might just be our favorite. Our 9-year-old daughter loves it, as do we (her parents). There's enough strategy and scheming to keep us parents interested, but the kiddo seems to enjoy it too. I would say it's MUCH more fun with all three of us playing rather than just two of us--with only two, the strategies don't get all messed up (in a fun way) like they do with three of us. We like this game so much, I've decided to give it for birthday gifts for the kiddo's friends from now on.

Gamewright comes through again with another great family game. My kids have enjoyed many of the Gamewright games such as Rat a Tat Cat, Sleeping Queens and Duck Duck Bruce to name a few. Tiki Topple is right up there with them as one of our current family favorites. Fun, colorful artwork and sturdy components (wooden tikis, very thick, high quality cards, and a nice gameboard with a trough down the middle to hold the tikis in place) add to the fact that this is a great value for the money.

Play starts with 9 tikis in place on the board. Each player is dealt a tiki card which tells them which 3 tikis they want to have remaining on the board at the end and in what order. Points are given based on how close each player is able to match their 3 tiki pattern. Depending on number of players, each person receives either a 6 or 7 card hand to start the game. Each card allows some move along the tiki totem such as "Tiki up 1" (move any tiki piece up one slot), "Tiki up 2" (move up 2), "Tiki up 3" (up 3), "Tiki Topple" (move any tiki to the bottom slot) or "Tiki Toast" (remove the bottom tiki). Players take turns playing these cards until either all cards are played or there are only 3 tikis remaining. Points are then scored for each player based upon how many tikis from their card are remaining and whether or not they ended up in the position listed on the card or higher up. Rounds are played until one player reaches 35 points or more.

The game box lists recommended ages as 10 and up, but we've had a 4 year old play with very little help. Games last approximately 20 minutes. This is a great game for the entire family - highly recommended!

Tiki Topple is a very fun game for families that kids (maybe as young as 6 or 7 depending upon your child) and adults will both enjoy. It features rich & stylish art design (dig those tikis!), simple game play that's easy to understand but which still rewards thought & strategy, and quick playing times that will average 15-25 minutes depending upon how many players are playing. This game can be played by 2-4 players and having more players changes the dynamics pretty drastically. Strategy makes a much bigger impact with 2 players, whereas 4 player games become more about luck and can be a real free-for-all. Much fun either way and highly recommended. **Note: at the end of the video I mention this game being a good mix of "strategy and skill" but I meant to say "strategy and luck". Sorry, but I wasn't about to record that whole thing again so here's my correction :)

This is a wonderful game. It is not perfect in any way but that may be what is great about it because it has no flaws. The goal is to score points. To score points a round must end with your totems in certain positions in the totem pole. Each turn each player plays one of 7 cards that moves the totems up, down, and off the totem pole. Each player has the same 7 options and once you use an option it is gone for that round. So the goal is to use your cards and calculate what you opponent will do with their cards in order to get the round to end with your totems at the top. All the while you do not know for sure which totems they are trying to have end at the top. Their are not too many rules to understand, the game has beautiful art, and there is strategy and calculation required to win. This combines to make a great game. I even play this game with my 6 year old and it is marked 10 and up. We simply handicap the required points so she wins half the time at her skill level. Another bonus is that the game is playable with just two people. The strategy is not quite as complex as with 3-4 but it is still fun.
