5.0 out of 5 stars Healing, repair and transformation...., June 19, 2011
This review is from: Tikkun-Survivor Demos (Audio CD)
(According to a website I found, the word "tikkun" is a Hebrew word meaning "Healing, repair and transformation" and there apparently is a magazine entitled "Tikkun". I just learned something new, thanks "Gang from Consolidated").

I can't have been the first person to hear this CD, it's over 10 years old. So why am I the first reviewer? Other listeners with a greater knowledge of Consolidated must have heard the songs here, but nobody had any opinions of it? Did people stop caring at this point? Is there another entry point on Amazon for this album?
Having not heard of these guys until this year, I've almost made my way thru their entire catalog of work in the past couple months. Although I feel their music can be derivative of other artists, and yes they can be heavy handed, the message they have tried to convey needs to be heard. Should we be more concerned about the perceived heavy handedness of a group of musicians, or the heavy handedness of an emerging Corporate State? (OK, off the soapbox).
Anyway, I think this is a great album. The political viewpoints are not as dominant, and there is more of a "pop" sound here than usual. Musically, they almost veer into the "boy band" arena with songs like "Falling Thru You", "Impermanence", and "Ketchup Soup". But I still like those songs and others like "Subtext", "Chemo", "28th Place", and "For David". I would put this album right up there with my other "Consolidated" favorites, "Friendly Fascism", "Dropped", and "Business of Punishment".
