5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Tale for All Ages, January 22, 2005
By
This review is from: Tikta'liktak: An Inuit-Eskimo Legend (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful tale of hunting, survival, and the human spirit!

Tikta'liktak gets caught adrift on sea ice while hunting. He drifts on the sea, certain that he'll get lost at sea, but then lands upon a mystic island known to him and his tribe. Caught out on the ice with a bow, his ice chisle, a knife, and a harpoon, he must dig in and survive the long artic winter.

A great tale of endurance, faith, common sense, and surviving, written in language easy enough for early readers. I highly recommend this short story!

3.0 out of 5 stars Boring for a Fourth Grader, July 13, 2007
By
Robert C. Morrell (Lancaster, PA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Tikta'liktak is a young Eskimo hunter. His father is a great hunter. In a time of little food and warmth Tikta'liktak goes on a adventure to a different island. Were he confronts a bear, kills 3 seals, and builds a home. But he started feeling lonely. He did not know how to get home. He figures out a way to blow-up the seal skins and make a boat. On his way home he finds a cave filled with gems. He grabs a few and runs home. when he gets there he is praised by his family and is feed well. Content, he falls asleep.

It's a great book. Perfect for young readers such as my little sister. A very interesting thing to read, but it's not wonderful for older readers such as myself who prefer a little more drama.
