A wonderful, funny mystery,
This review is from: 'Til Dice Do Us Part: A Bunco Babes Mystery (Paperback)
This second book in her series is even better than the first one.
People who live and breathe in the south, should give this mystery a try. The characters just come alive in this mystery. Kate and her friends are a hoot. "'Til Dice Do Us Part", has a wonderful southern charm feeling to it and characters that make you want to knock on their door and let you in to join in the fun! I'll even bring my own dice. Gail Oust, I would love to hear more about the "Bunco Babes". I love your sense of humor, and the southern twist you bring this comedic mystery.

entertaining amateur sleuth,
This review is from: 'Til Dice Do Us Part: A Bunco Babes Mystery (Paperback)
Claudia Connors returns home after spending time in Vegas. Her retiree buddies the Bunco Babes welcome home one of their charter members. However, she shocks the group when she introduces them to her new husband, actor Lance Ledeaux.
They are further stunned when Lance explains to the babes that he plans to direct and perform in a play in which he wants all of them to have roles in the production. The normally suspicious babes are won over by his offer and his general charm. However Kate McCall overhears a fight between the newlyweds over expense and becomes concerned for her friend. Soon afterward during rehearsal, someone loaded a gun with real bullets, leaving Lance dead and the cops suspecting his wife killed him. Kate leads the Bunco Babes' investigation into the homicide. This is an entertaining amateur sleuth as the Bunco Babes reject the notion of tossing dice during visiting hours to the state pen. Fans will enjoy the camaraderie of the BFFs as they Whack `n Roll their way through their investigation with humor, concern and catching optimism. Gail Oust rolls an eleven with this enjoyable winner. Harriet Klausner

Comforting Cozy Mystery,

This review is from: 'Til Dice Do Us Part: A Bunco Babes Mystery (Paperback)
This is a cozy mystery that takes place in a retirement community in a small town somewhere in South Carolina. The biggest town within driving distance is Augusta, GA. A group of ladies gets together regularly to play a dice game called Bunco. They are all transplanted northerners with the exception of one lady from Tennessee. One of the ladies introduces her male companion to the group and he is interested in putting on a play with the group. He used to be involved in plays in Atlanta. They agree and when they have a rehearsal one of the scenes calls for a murder to take place. They use a real gun loaded with blanks. Well the man decides he wants to be the one shot because he wants to show off his acting abilities, but he acts a little too well because he really ends up shot dead. Someone has put live rounds in the gun! The rest is a whodunnit story with lots of comforting scenes of eating and drinking. This book can make you hungry! The problem is that the answer to the mystery just kind of suddenly comes out of left field and you kind of feel like it is was mostly a waste of time reading the book since everything you were led to believe had nothing to do with the actual murder. It's a pretty nice story though and for the most part it's well written. It's just nothing great.

This was a fun read. Life at the retirement community is never boring, and Kate and the Bunco Babes have their hands full trying to deal with Claudia and her new husband. He announces he intends to direct, produce, and star in a play he wrote, and he wants the Babes and other retirees to participate. When he is shot during rehearsal and Claudia was literally holding the smoking gun, the Babes of course jump into action. A very lively community, children (disapproving), relationships, house guests, and new neighbors all provide a lot of fun.
