5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Written
More concise and poetic than Death of a Beekeeper, this subtly captivating book delights at every turn. LG expounds on the "joys" of solitude and pedantic endeavors. His ability to turn bottomless bitterness into insightful humor is masterful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite
It was refreshing to read something clearly from a Swedish background, but I didn't find this book particularly impressive. An old drunk tiler spends the entire day working at an incorrect address and attempting to establish a larger sense of order through his efforts. In the process, he searches for some meaning in life, but doesn't find much.

This was a required reading for a college course, yet I really enjoyed it. It is short and easy to get through.
