This book came into my hands at a time in my life when I was really seeking the truth about how God views marriage, divorce and remarriage, according to Bible scripture, not man's traditions. I needed the final word on it, for personal reasons. I felt I had been lead astray by immature Christians on this subject, and needed an authoritative study on it, and I found it in this book.

Not only is it easy to read and understand, it goes line by line in the bible about the verses in question. The author's premise for study is, start with the clear verses, and examine the unclear, and "exception" verses in light of the clear ones.

I appreciate the way the author analyzes and then synthesizes each point. It is very systematic, yet completely compelling.

I can highly recommend this book to every believer. In fact, I think it is mandatory reading, because this subject is so misunderstood, and so glossed over by most pastors, to their congregation's harm.

If you are a person who is disturbed by the ease at which people in the church are married, divorced, and remarried, all with the pastors' blessing, then you need to get this book. It will open your eyes to the truth found only in the Scriptures about this important topic, and you will want to give a copy to your pastor and separated/divorced friends.

Having sat under the teaching of this pastor for over twenty years, I can assure you, it is from a true shepherd's heart that this book was written. In discussing this teaching with Pastor Webb over the years, I have come to the realization it was with a very heavy heart that he began preaching and teaching on this subject. As one of the interviewers stated, Joe's mother was in this situation and therefore he struggled with with the Lord for many years, before finally putting this message to paper.
We are told in the book of Ezekiel, " Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: (33:2) But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand." (33:6) "So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me." (33:7)
I would classify Joe Webb as a modern day Ezekiel. He has heard the word from the mouth of the Lord and has gone forth to warn the Christian community that the ground on which they are treading is not only dangerous, but deadly.
I say, woe to those pastors and teachers who, presenting themselves as leader's of God's flock, make light of this appauling scourge on the church.

I have been so changed by Dr Webb's books on this subject. Let me say i did not want to accept this view and set out to punch a hole in these strict view of Marriage, Divorce and Remarriage... it back fired on me. This book will challenge 99% of pastors and even if they do not accept this idea on the covenant of a marriage being just like Christ marriage to the Church; i think every pastor/minister and Priest should have both of Dr. Webb's books on this subject. I have been doing research on this subject for the last several years now because i have been "divorced" and this view really affects my life. I have talked with several pastors and read other book on this and no one seems to be able to really debate this view. I am glad i know the truth now but really it is not what i was hoping for. Now most people believe what they want to believe and find a way to do so. This is not a "Modern" or "Popular" view; but it is the "old fashioned" original view. I believe this biblical view because it has become my conviction; not because this is what i wanted to believe about the bible.

What difference is there in the "Church" if we swap spouses like the world shacks up before they get "married"?

I am so impress with his books that I have ordered a case of his other book and will order a case of this too very soon to give to Pastors etc. Dr. Webb's other book is called "Divorce & Remarriage: The Trojan Horse Within the Church?" Whom Bill Gothard said he did an Outstanding job on this BIblical view.

This book should be required reading in every pre-marital counseling session. It will, and should, change your view on marriage and its permanency as ordained by God in His Word. You will see Jesus' teaching (and Paul's) in a new light. It could possibly change the divorce rate among Christians to all-time lows, thereby preserving families and children who bear the brunt of reckless divorces. I gave it to my honeymooning daughter and she remarked, "Mom, OMG, marriage really is supposed to be forever, huh?" The weight of her decision to marry suddenly became real to her! She and her husband are in counseling and it's going very well as they learn to communicate and serve each other unselfishly. This book will get many back on track! It's direct and honest-just as Jesus' words were when asked about marriage by His disciples. "Til Death Do Us Part?" will, can change your life.
