This book was, I believe, one of Ms. Berg's best books. I have read all of them. She brings a "big city" woman (Ellie) to a small country town and when she steps out of her car she is wearing red high-heeled boots - this ties in with the ending. But this town is no place for that type of attire. She finds she has purchased a run-down,ramshackle hotel - thanks to her brother - but she decides to make the best of it. The one large problem is that her hotel has a "permanent" guest. The antics the guest goes through and the things that Ellie has to endure are well written and engaging. Jon is the thorn in her side - he is the town hero and she thinks he is in cahoots with his unscrupulous kin. Anyone who takes the time to read this book will be thoroughly entertained. It is a fast read, but highly engaging. Take the time to read some of her other books, as well. "Wife for a Day" and "Bride for a Night" are also very good books. I can't wait for the next book.

This book was great. I brought it to the beach with me to read there, but my friend got to it before me. She kept raving on about it and stopping me in the middle of the book I was currently reading just so she could tell me what was happening. After that she wouldn't leave me alone until I read it also and I'm glad I did!!!!!!!! The guy Jon in this book had a tempermant and so did Elizabeth. They constantly argued but of course fell in love. Then there was Alex a ghost who had sworn revenge on the person who killed him and get back to the woman he loves. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a romance and ghost/mystery story.

I bought this book becasue The Romance Reader gave it 4 stars. That was five too many in my opinion. Normally I enjoy romances with a paranormal twist, but not this one. The characters were boring, the writing was dull, nothing happened. There was no suspence, no romance, nothing. Weeks went by in a sentence. Attempts at suspence just slowed the book down. I had no interest in who Jon was talking to all the time. I didn't care what happened to Alexander. The heroine was stupid. She was wearing high heel boots in Montana in winter! She kept falling down. She didn't seem to notice the conection between the two. I felt nothing for these characters. There was no feeling of love between the hero and heroine. Everybody was underdeveloped or a stock small town character. It was boring and I felt insulted trying to read it. Do yourself a favor and save your money for a book with good writing and characters. This one will not satisfy on any level. I have no interest in continueing to read a book where the writer tells what happened instead of showing. Show, don't tell is the first rule of writing for any genre, but especially romance.
