Jackie Greene - Medicine

Biography

Discussing the imminent release of Giving Up the Ghost, his fifth album and first on 429 Records, Jackie Greene – singer and songwriter, guitarist and keyboard player, acoustic solo artist and electrifying band leader – hesitates to spell things out too much.

“Could we leave some questions unanswered?” he asks. “So people can make up their own minds about things?” Many people have already made up… Read more in Amazon's Jackie Greene Store

Editorial Reviews

Back from his most extensive tour to date, hitting up all the festivals, Jackie Greene delivers another gem proving his title 'Prince of Americana' more relevant than ever. Jackie steps out with maturity and soul on this incredible journey of song confirming that 'Mr. Next Big Thing'...is here, and now!
Says Ben Fong Torres, of Rolling Stone Magazine fame '.........Jackie is a sensational rocker.......not to be missed'.

Produced by Jackie Greene and Tim Bluhm

Love the new record.

He has great talent, based on his wide array of covers he has proven he is a great student of the classics, anyone who stumbles upon one of his live shows can't help be come away impressed. He has a great look and stage presence. He has grown up and has matured as a performer. You can tell he is building a craft. His lyrics harken back to the Stones, Neil Young, The Band and yes, Bob Dylan and further back to "the blues". He can tell a story and draw a character with his words. When he performs live he brings more than the sound from the record (cd . . . sorry), he experiments with his catalog of songs and plays them differently. Tell Me Mama, Tell Me Right, I have seen/heard him sing many different ways and they all work. Oh yeah, he also has assembled a superb band. Nathan Dale, Jeromy P (sorry don't know how to spell his last name) and Uncle Bruce Spencer. They all gel together well. The are "the California sound".

So, why don't we hear him on the radio? I guess it is partly because he doesn't fit in a merchadising box, he isn't fabricated, Hollywood or American Idol. We don't hear him on the radio because the radio is mainstream media . . . disc jockies who pose as "in the know" about new, relevant music should be ashamed of themselves.

If you are a Jackie Greene fan add to the this discussion maybe we can help JGe sell a few more records and get his ranking up on Amazon. If you have never listened to him give him a try, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Finally, I would be remiss if I did not mention that any tie-dyed in the wool Deadhead should embrace Jackie Greene. Phil Lesh has all but passed the mantle to the young man. I think Jerry Garcia would love him musically, mystically...wholy.

Peace out.

I've been a huge fan of Jackie for a long time. I saw him one year in San Fran, and have been in love ever since.

This record is defiantly one of favorites, and I have them all!

Check out Shaky Ground and Medicine! He really is a breath of fresh air in this turbo pop world!

I am over the top crazy about this new Jackie Greene cd. It's lush and full and sensitive and yet it still ROCKS. If you haven't discovered Jackie's music yet, you are missing a huge link in todays evolution of music. He's a storyteller with a great edge. My personal favorite is Stranger in the Sand. But there is not one throw-away track on the entire cd. Hear it for yourselves. Take a listen and I'm sure you will be as hooked as I am.

Til The Light Comes - Not Jackie's best
Til the Light Comes by Jackie Green is just alright. It has a much softer sound than any of his earlier albums, which are all fantastic.
