Tilley Endurables, Inc. story begins in 1980. A man, named Alex Tilley, needed a sailing hat to go with his sailboat. This man had tenderly and lovingly restored his sailboat. When it came time for him to go for a sail, he realized that none of his hats could match the quality that he expected in a hat. He and his family began making hats and finally came up with the Tilley hat. Word of mouth spread and people began showing up at his house to purchase these hats. With the success of the hats, Tilley wanted to have proper sailing shorts. He began his quest for the right material to manufacture the shorts. These do an excellent job of wicking smelly perspiration away from your foot and depositing it on the inside of your shoe. I took two pairs on a trip, washing one each evening. After four or five days, my shoes _stank_. Also, they're on the thin side for serious walking.

These socks were awesome for travel! They were comfortable during my trip to Italy where we did mostly walking and riding/standing on trains. These are easy to wash and dry quickly which is great for staying in hotels.

I love the fact that these socks wash and dry so quickly. They're comfortable too and it's true...no holes after much wear. I already have a pair of navy ones and they're the only socks I've ever had with no holes. Thanks Tilley!
