Editorial Reviews

Review

"The heroine of this Victorian saga is what my grandmother would have called a bit of a romancer. But she meets her match in upper class Barney Palgrave, an attractive rogue whose penchant for gilding the lily is even greater than her own. Set in the mean streets of the East End of London and in colonial India, this story has an element of the Eliza Dolittle about it" -- Sue McNab Nottingham Evening Post "Marvellous new saga to delight Ms Court's growing legion of fans who will love her feisty and independent heroine, Tilly ... Her quest is packed with incident and emotion" Peterborough Evening Telegraph "Once again Dilly Court reveals her talent" The Daily Echo

I really enjoyed this book. I like English authors for books of this time period I am glad Kindle makes at least some of these avilabe to us.

Tilly is a poor girls who has ambition and sass. Sometimes her spirit gets the better of her and she says things when angered that help her out the door.

This girl seems to get in more situations and go from pilar to post that I began to get a little tired of reading and certainly despired of her. But I keep cheering for her determination and felt it would all as my mother said "come out in the wash".

The last part of hte book enfolded very well, a believable ending and a good one.

I have read two others from this author, and this is the only one I could recommend, and would read again.
