4.0 out of 5 stars Very good as the first introduction of WWW history, January 31, 2010

This review is from: Tim Berners-Lee (Ferguson Career Biographies) (Library Binding)
It's biography. But rather biography of the World Wide Web itself than biography of Tim Berners-Lee. Contains description of circumstances how the Web was born and its early history.

There are other books about the World Wide Web creation, that are larger and with more details. This book is short, but simple and clear even for people who are not historian or computer expert. Very good as the first introduction of WWW history.

There are some small errors in technical parts: author mistook server scripting language for client-side scripting language and example of HTML, the basic part of the Web, was badly printed, so it is completely unreadable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Biography and Career Book All in One, July 26, 2001
This review is from: Tim Berners-Lee (Ferguson Career Biographies) (Library Binding)
Stewart says that Tim Berners-Lee invention had as big an impact on our society as Gutenberg's printing press did in the fifteenth century. Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web and all the components that make it work including: servers, browser, URL addressing, hypertext, HTML and HTTP. His early life, education, challenges and professional acheivements are all outlined. The end of the book explains how students today can become computer programmers. The simple text clearly explains complex concepts to beginners. Black and white photos enhance the text. Should be of high interest to students age 9-12 who are interested in making computers their career.
