Editorial Reviews

One of America’s best-loved comedians, Tim Conway (The Carol Burnett Show) is featured here in hilarious TV clips from the 1960s. Conway portrays the popular character, Dag Hereford. A self-professed expert on everything, Dag is really nothing more than a simple-minded buffoon. Whether he’s a horseracing jockey, wine taster, prison warden or one of the country’s leading race car drivers, Conway hams it up with stars of the day in rare, stand-up performances not seen in more than 40 years.

Format:DVD
I've seen Tim Conway for years and think he is the funniest person alive, but the scenes on this DVD were terrible.

2.0 out of 5 stars Older sketch comedy before Carol Burnette days November 14, 2007
Format:DVD
This is Tim from the early 50s to the mid 60s? Before his days on Carol Burnett. Tim's strength is his physical comedy & spontaneous witty ad-lib. He also does best when another actor tries to hold in a laugh at his jokes & that gives Tim confidence to do what he does best & go off the script. That barely happens once in this hour program when a ringing phone didn't happen & he pretending to be psychic (I forget) & the other actor died laughing. I wished Tim kept going, but he went back to the script. All stage skit material from different variety shows, many of them having Tim play a character called "Dag Hartford" as a jockey, car driver, hippie, caveman, etc. It's the same character, the type that's slow, thick-headed, etc. But nowhere near as good as his days on Carol. There's almost no physical comedy as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too trite May 12, 2007
Format:DVD
I thought it was more of the funny stuff he did with Carol Burnett, but unfortunately it was not that funny.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. THERE ARE GREAT TV INTERPLAY SEQUENCES SOMEWHERE AVAILABLE, BUT THESE SCENES ARE WORSE THAN PEDESTRIAN. AND--- VERY FEW IN NUMBER. WHICH I REGARD AS LIFESAVING IF PROLONGED! I WAS SUCKED IN BY A TV AD WHICH DID FALSELY REPRESENT THIS DUD.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst compilation in some time August 5, 2012
Format:Amazon Instant Video|Verified Purchase
I rented this video expecting to see a compilation of more recent Tim Conway work (nearer to his work on Carol Burnett). This was not the case. This work seemed to be VERY early in his career while he was just beginning to build his comedic talent but wasn't there yet. I would not recommend watching this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tim Conway February 2, 2009
By D. Hild
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I first saw Tim Conway when he was Tom Conway at BGSU in 1954. He was hilarious then and still is. This dvd shows some of his routines from TV, but none from the Carol Burnett Show-which were classic. Tim Conway is one of the top comedians. This dvd proves it.

Amazon should refund everyone's money who have ever purchased this awful product. I will NEVER buy anything from them again unless they do. This is mis-represented, badly made, and should be given away free for target practice; Jeff, how could you allow this product pollution?

You have to love this guy--if you need a laugh during the day this
is great to have on hand. Give it as a gift to someone who is
ill. I love it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just too old.... not funny at all.
We love Tim Conway, but these skits are pre-Carol Burnett, and they are just too outdated and aren't funny. Save your money.

I wanted to see more of Tim and Harvey Korman. My favorite Conway character is the old man and I guess he had not created that yet.
