Tim McGraw...are 5 stars the HIGHEST I can give it????,

Tim's show in Feb '98 was my first country concert of my life, and ever since then, I have been a big fan of his. His newest cd is great! "She's My Kinda Rain" is a great love song, and "Red Ragtop" tells a great story that many people can actually relate to. Not to mention Tim's cover of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" is amazingly done! Only thing that can top it is the American Music Awards performance of the song as a duet with Tim and Elton. Another great song on the cd is "Real Good Man". "...when it comes to loving you, I've got velvet hands; I'll show you how a real bad boy can be a real good man..." That line just makes me melt. It sounds like he is singing his heart right to Faith. What a lucky woman she is! Ok, well, most of the cd has that same romantic idea. What a talented singer Tim is.

Tim's Strongest Effort Yet,
By
This review is from: Tim McGraw and The Dancehall Doctors (Audio CD)
Tim McGraw seems to be everywhere these days. Ever since he hit his stride with the success of his NOT A MOMENT TOO SOON album in 1994, he has grown more and more popular with country audiences alike. He achieved much success with his 1997 album EVERYWHERE, a trend that continued onto his A PLACE IN THE WORLD and SET THIS CIRCUS DOWN albums. Now Tim is back with one of his best sounding albums yet, TIM MCGRAW & THE DANCEHALL DOCTORS.The album features 15 tracks, roughly 66 minutes of music. A generous helping from Tim. What makes this album special and separate from his past albums, is Tim recorded this album with his road band, the Dancehall Doctors. It gives it a more authentic sound, bringing a special sound to the songs. The Dancehall Doctors includes David Dunkley, Dean Brown, Bob Minner, John Marcus, Jeff McMahon, Denny Hemingson, Billy Mason, and Darran Smith. There was a bit of controversy surrounding the albums first single "Red Ragtop", a song about abortion. I think it has a meaningful message about life, if you really listen to the honesty and integrity of the lyrics. His second single is the song "She's My Kind of Rain", which is a favorite of mine on here. Tim even manages to do a cover of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer", and does it justice! There's a bit of everything here for McGraw fans. Some uptempo country (Home, Sleep Tonight, Illegal, etc), and some really nice ballads we've come to expect (Watch The Wind Blow By, I Know How To Love You Well, etc). This is Tim's strongest effort yet. It is probably his most country sounding effort to date. The magic he has with his band is very apparant when listening to this CD, it sounds like they had a great deal of fun in the studio cutting this album. This transpires to good music overall, and once again Tim does not disapoint. This is definately worth picking up!

Use the Dancehall Doctors Again and Again!,

As a biased Tim McGraw fan...I just have to say that this is an extremely good album. If the next level of Tim's music is to have his road band record with him, then he needs to do it again and again. The album sounded amazing! There isn't a single song on this album that I don't like...and that's rare! My favorites are the love songs...I Know How to Love You Well and She's My Kind of Rain. Both very beautiful songs. Especially if you get to see Tim sing them in person. Aaaaah! He toys around with some 70's rock sounds on this album...especially with Illegal and Who Are They, and then of course with his rendition of Elton John's Tiny Dancer. He broaches the topic of abortion in Red Ragtop...but still manages to make it a beautiful song. The remaining songs are very classic Tim McGraw, but they sound so good with the Dancehall Doctors in the background. I think everyone needs to buy this album!

On the latest album from Tim Mcgraw, he shows everybody again that his music keeps getting better. Hes had so many great albums, and this one is among the best. As I write this its already been certified double-platinum, and its just getting started. When I first heard this, I loved it from the get-go. The opener, "Comfort Me", has such a earthy feel, and the lyrics behind this song is incredible. The song, "Tickin Away", I love that guitar, and the arrangements. It's something how theres 2 songs on this album that mention the word home in the song title. Well Tim Mcgraw feels right at home with this project, its evident. But he had a little help from his roadband the Dancehall Doctors, and recorded in a paradise setting. One of my favorites is, "Illegal", the intro is so cool. A song titled, "Who are they" bashes all the critics, and very well written. "Red Ragtop", I still consider to be in my top 3 favorites on this cd. Theirs so many potential big hits on this cd, that it must be difficult to pick the songs for radio. But after 19 number one singles, he will definently add to that, with this album. Tim Mcgraw is such on top of his game, that its like magic before your eyes, making a pot of gold. I have new albums by Shania, Faith Hill, and a few others, and this cd goes circles around those!Besides this wonderful project, a book was put together to represent this. You can tell that Tim and his band had a blast making this, and I hope they try it again! So the book basically shows the process of making the record. The book and this cd need to be together, both of those things make this dynamite! Like I told someone else, that when Tim Mcgraw retires down the road he will have to release a box set package, because just about every single thats been released has either hit number 1 or top 10. As for now Tim Mcgraw is on a roll, and he won't be slowing down anytime soon! So either get out of the way, or take a ride with him by purchasing this cd today! If there ever was a cd that you must own, it would be this one.

Soulful, Sensuous Country at its Best!!,

Tim's most recent album, Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors, shows his maturity from a long haired, hot kickin country rock singer to a soulful country music icon. Tim has always caught my heart with the soul that shone through his pop-tuned music from the beginning. Each of his albums has been better than the last, growing and maturing and becoming stronger in the country root. This latest collection includes a song that tells a story of a couple of high school sweethearts: story songs always have staying power, and "Red Ragtop" is no exception to the rule. Though controversy rose about a verse in the song, the listener should not focus on this verse alone; it is the story as a whole that gives the song its meaning. On this album, Tim also does a fabulous cover of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer"...staying true the the song yet making it his own. In "She's My Kind of Rain" and "All we ever Find" show that he hasn't lost his romantic feel, which is something that most of us love him for. This album is his most country album yet, and I can't get enough of it. Tim's growth is apparent in this soulful album...and that makes it a Number One hit in my book!

Tim McGraw Reveals True Soul On His Latest Album,

I have been a Tim McGraw fan for quite some time now and I own every one of his 8 albums. Each album possesses its own feel and essence. And just when you think there's nothing new up Tim's sleeve, he goes and puts out "Tim McGraw And The Dancehall Doctors". His latest and most progressive effort showcases the chemistry he has with his road band The Dancehall Doctors, who play all the instruments on the eponymously titled album. But this isn't just a gimmick to sell more records or to grab your attention. To quote Tim McGraw, "I'm not different for the sake of being different...I'm different for the sake of being better." Indeed, TMDHD brings a loose, organic feel to country music that is sorely lacking in this day and age of slickly produced, tightly hooked, commercialized pop-country. The album is a throwback to the days when it was all about making good, honest, soulful music. On this album, you'll hear fiddles fly, steel guitars cry, guitar solos galore, and lyrics with universal themes such as patriotism, perfectly imperfect love, remembering where you came from and forgetting who you were; all sung with that honest, heartfelt voice McGraw fans have grown to love. McGraw says that his latest project is the most honest he has sung on any album, and the styles epitomize what music means to him. The emotion and effort that is put into this album is second to none, as is the enjoyment of listening to it. As far as song choice, "Everywhere" is the only album that can compare to this stellar collection of 15 unique, unforgettable songs. You really have to hear it to believe it. This album should be the standard-bearer for all future Nashville creations. Job WELL DONE!!!

Impressed--he still has it!,

Just got this cd yesterday. I'm impressed. It's similar to his other cd's, and yet has an updated sound. It's not a copy-cat from his earlier works. That's one thing tim mcgraw seems very good about. His songs all have a different sound, style...some favorites on here are: Comfort Me, Red Ragtop, Illegal, Sing Me Home, Tiny Dancer & Who Are They. The only thing I would criticize is that some of the songs are a little too slow, I don't care too much for Watch the Wind Blow by or That's Why God Made Mexico. But I'm sure they're the type of songs that some listeners might enjoy. There is a good variety of types of songs as well, it's not just filled up with love songs. I'd recommend it!

Tim at his best!,

Being a huge fan of Tim McGraw, I was at Wal-Mart at midnight the morning this CD came out. I grabbed my copy and ran to my car, anxious to hear all Tim's new songs. Unlike most other CDs that come out, I hadn't downloaded any of his new songs, so I had no idea what to expect. When I started playing it, I was amazed. I absolutely love this whole CD. Tim's real band played on this CD, which is something they have never done before. I can actually hear the difference. His pianist is absolutely amazing and the whole vibe of the CD is so different from the rest. Here's my thoughts on each track: "Comfort Me" - a very earthy song.. it had a deep hidden message about loving your country. One of my favorites. "Tickin' Away" - a slow song about lost love. Awesome piano in this one. "Home" - this is a very countryish song, without being too twangy. It's very catchy. "Red Ragtop" - the first single from this album. It's a very good story about 2 young people who go through many hard times. It's a very honest song. "That's Why God Made Mexico" - I love this track. The piano in this song is beautiful. "Watch the Wind Blow By" - this song has a really good chorous.. it's very catchy.. and the lyrics are cute. "Illegal" - this is my favorite song on this album. It's a fast tune, which is what Tim does best in my opinion. This one will definately have you singing along. "Sleep Tonight" - I love the lyrics and instrumentals of this song. "I Know How To Love You Well" - My favorite slow song on this CD. It's definately directed at Faith. It's just so heartfelt and beautiful. Tim definately put his all into this song. "Sing Me Home" - a very cool song. Talks about direction in life. It's something all of us can relate to. "She's My Kind Of Rain" - Tim just made a video for this song. It talks about how he feels about his family. I love the tune of this song and I think Tim's voice sounds so good in it. :) "Who Are They?" - the lyrics of this song really make you think. I don't really know what to say about it.. you have to listen to it for yourself and you'll know what I mean.. it just really gets you thinking. "Real Good Man" - I love the instruments in this song. It's very country with a sprinkle of rock thrown in. It's really neat sounding. "All We Ever Find" - This is Faith's favorite track on Tim's album. It's about living in the moment with that special someone. The lyrics are really good. "Tiny Dancer" - We've all seen Tim's "Tiny Dancer" remake when he sang it as his concert last year. It's a remake of the older hit by Elton John. Tim really does a good job bringing this song to life. This is a great way to end the album. I would definitely recommend this CD to anyone who loves country music.. or just good music, for that matter. Each and every track has something new to offer. You won't be dissapointed with this one!

Tim McGraw and The Dancehall Doctors,

Tim McGraw and The Dancehall Doctors is a timeless country cd. The cd includes songs about love, having a broken heart, and taking it easy; all of which are easy to relate to and catchy lyrics to sing along to and an awesome beat. Whether you want slow or upbeat music this cd has a combination of both. My favorite songs include: "She's My Kind of Rain" a song about love, "Red Ragtop" a song about relationship troubles, and "Thats Why God Made Mexico" a song about removing yourself from hard or complicated situations. I would recommend buying this album because people will be able to identify and take personal meaning with these songs. Even if you are not a huge country fan this cd incorporates a beat that would appeal to pop fans as well. Tim McGraw and The Dancehall Doctors is one cd you can listen to all the way through and enjoy. |
