5.0 out of 5 stars "Tuvok" stops the world for you
Tim Russ- known as Star Trek: Voyager's "Tuvok"- makes a wonderful debut with this new CD. Some friends and I previewed this album on the way back from a Trek convention and have reached a conclusion- this release should be on popular radio. I've got a confession: I didn't expect to like it, but after listening I've concluded, most logically of course, that...

3.0 out of 5 stars Tuvok Rock
Have never once thought about picking up one of those Leanord Nimoy or William Shatner albums, and am honestly nowhere near being the world's greatest Star Trek fan. I recently saw Tim Russ at a Star Trek convention in Vegas, and he came out on stage in a red vest with a guitar while Neil Norman's Orchestra was playing, and I thought to myself `Oh boy, here we go...' Have never once thought about picking up one of those Leanord Nimoy or William Shatner albums, and am honestly nowhere near being the world's greatest Star Trek fan. I recently saw Tim Russ at a Star Trek convention in Vegas, and he came out on stage in a red vest with a guitar while Neil Norman's Orchestra was playing, and I thought to myself `Oh boy, here we go...' But let me tell you -Tim is one fine vocalist, and a pretty decent guitarist as well. He came out and absolutely blew me away with his rendition of `Crossroads' (available on this CD). I promptly bought this CD and one of his others, `KUSHINGAZA,' which I must say is superior to this one. Tim's music is honest and soulful, if the music is not always on par with his singing. He really should be experienced live for a full appreciation of his talent. This is a decent album, but you should check out Kushingaza, for a better introduction to his work (and songwriting). This is NOT what you'd expect.

I've got a confession: I didn't expect to like it, but after listening I've concluded, most logically of course, that it is a definate buy! Several different genres are represented from light blues to a smooth pop jazzy sound that really picks you up. My personal favorite, "I Would Stop The World For You", is a wonderful moment in which the richness of Russ' voice shines through. Star Trek fans should especially check out this CD. But I promise that even if you're not a fan of Trek or "Tuvok" you'll love this music for the talented singing of Tim Russ. Fascinating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good!, July 2, 2000
This review is from: Tim Russ (Audio CD)
Well, I am a Star Trek fan. I saw Tim Russ at a convention in Holland where he was also promoting his album. I must say, I really enjoyed the concert. Great performer, very good voice. I instantly bought the CD, and have enjoyed it ever since, and NOT because he is a Star Trek actor. His music is very good and I do hope he will make some more CD's.

The first few songs on this CD are absolutely horrible but as the tracks progress they get better. Worth the money if your a fan of Voyager and worth the money if your a fan of Jazz.

5.0 out of 5 stars The logical coice..., August 24, 2000
This review is from: Tim Russ (Audio CD)
To the ones who wrote bad reviews: Shame on you... This CD is great, and Tim Russ is Greater... Strong, beautiful voice, wondeful mix of old songs and his own work. Tim delivers and if you are a Tuvok fanatic like I am, you will love the chance to get him this close... There is so much emotion involved when Tim Russ sings that it's hard to believe that this is the same man who plays a vulcan so well. Even if you never heard of Star Trek or Tuvok you can enjoy this CD. It always comes with me in my portable CD player, it is the closest I will get to Tim, so he never leaves my side... I love Tim Russ, I love Tuvok and I LOVE this CD... Buy it...

Something old, something new, something mellow, something blues. Tim Russ has something for everyone. His original tunes, plus some classic favorites make this a wonderful addition to any CD collection. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars a subtly understated album, August 7, 2000

As a Star Trek fan, I was looking forward to this album comingout, and I'm not disappointed at all. It turns out that Tim Russ actually used to be a backup singer for Atlantic Starr. I have some of their albums, too -- not sure if I can pick up his voice, though.

Tim Russ is a very emotional singer, and I related to many of these songs. Check it out.

1.0 out of 5 stars oh no ... not again., July 27, 2000
This review is from: Tim Russ (Audio CD)
Much as I love Star Trek, I really wish that the actors involved wouldn't fall prey to believing they can sing! Guess those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it (Remember when Shatner & Nimoy tried to sing? At least ONE of them is trying to bury the memory!) Tim Russ sounds like a graduate of the Steve Urkle School of Music. And, where I wouldn't roll up my car window if he was singing along with the radio in the car next to me (unlike the aforementioned gentlemen) -- I certainly wound NOT invest in a CD from Mr. Russ.

It just wouldn't be logical.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lost in Space, July 18, 2001

This album should have been lost with the Star Trek ship that Tim was on and never found...It is terrible. If you want some good music from a star trek actor, try James Darren from DS9

1.0 out of 5 stars Wow....incredible lyrics!, July 31, 2000
This review is from: Tim Russ (Audio CD)
Well, this is laughable! Lines such as "now its time to seperate the girls and the boys" are so brilliant that I had to award this album 1 star! Seriously, the originals are so bad, they will make you want to slit your wrists. Mine are heavily bandaged as we speak.
