This automaton kit I recently purchased has become a treasure of mine! I am a third grade teacher and I recently read the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick (Scholastic Press) to my class. It is the most wonderful mystery story that is enticing for both boys and girls about a homeless boy who discovers an old, rusty automaton in an attic. He searches and searches to find its maker and learns how to completely put the automaton together and makes it work once again. It's a captivating, fun story with lots of illustrations and I just couldn't resist researching automatons online. Well, they are very hard to come by and this kit was a needle in a haystack, a most wonderful find. It comes in a neat little box with all of the parts labeled to be able to put it together. It even comes with a little piece of sand paper to make it look super-nice and smooth. A fun little toy, and a reader's treasure!
