5.0 out of 5 stars Super Comfortable, November 29, 2010
By
Very comfortable out of the box. Put them on and walked several miles. Still feel good, no pinches or rough spots. Good grip on the soles. Fit length is accurate, width and toe are roomy & seem made for thick socks which is good for me. Steel shank has a perfect rocker shape for ease of walking. Toe box flexes in front of the shank, which was new to me but very comfortable. Good medium-stiff leather, lots of support. I use hiking type boots for their intended purpose as well as for hunting in all kinds of weather and surfaces. Should last several years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice, January 10, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Very nice boot! Will probably have to replace the shoe strings soon-kind of thin, they hurt my hands when pulling them tight. Very comfortable. I've been buying Timberland for a couple years now and never been disapointed yet!

4.0 out of 5 stars SOLID boot, great for work, would not use hiking, May 10, 2011
I've now had this for coming on four or more months. I really enjoy the boot for everyday banging around in and going to work, very solidly built and comfortable to wear. For urban settings and work, I feel this is a great boot. It can be heavy after a while, so if you do a lot of walking your dogs will feel it be the end of the day, except that the footbed makes it so your feet DO NOT hurt after a long day - they are just that comfortable.
As for hiking, I've decided to get a lighter weight pair of boots for hiking. I've got some hikes planned for this summer, and I am dreading the thought of lugging this boot with me.
When they said this is NOT waterproof, they meant it. I went for a walk in the rain with the dogs recently - it was an extremely heavy rain - and sure enough the water did come into the boot. Not right away, but in the amount of rain I was in I would have expected it to last longer. If you want waterproof, this is not the boot for you. But the other Timberland Pro models are excellent waterproof boots from my friends experience of 3+ years with his pair.
Summary - great boots for work and banging around in. Feet are well protected and safe.

One year review follow-up. Still wearing these 3x week and they have held up well. I've not really put much of a beating on these yet, but regardless I'm usually pretty rough on any boots I have. Pleasant to wear in cool Tennessee weather but not insulated enough to spend long periods in sub 30degree weather.
Overall after a year I'm still pretty happy with these for banging around the house/yard/office.

4.0 out of 5 stars good quality but beware, March 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Totally happy w/ amazon on this. The boots are what you'd expect, seemed like good quality & what I expected. I've worn 12D's and ordered these at 12EE. I ordered them after trying on a similar boot at a brick and mortar store, and it was a Timberland boot. I tried those, and bought these because of the wider toe cap.

The fit was great except for one small problem, and it was different than the boot I tried on in a shop. If you look at the boot at the base of the laces, there's a seam that runs down the side to the sole. That seam was tight and noticeable on the tops of both feet, enough so that I sent them back. I otherwise really liked the boot & think the quality was up there, but anyone that's worn safety shoes knows about that little spot you want to pretend you can get used to, but you never will.

Timberland has a 30 day fit-guarantee, so I could have worn them a bit to see if it got better. It might have, but I figured better to return it new, which I did. I returned it through Amazon's return policy, which is as good as you could ask for (assuming the credit shows up when they receive the boots back). I ordered the other Timberlands I tried on, and my woman talked me into ordering a set of Michelins I liked that were a little more. I've been wearing Michelins for years and I have no complaints with them, they just discontinued what I've been wearing.

These Timberlands look & felt great, except that little spot under the seam. If you don't think it's a problem for you, I'm sure these will be good for you. Buying through Amazon is even better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as durable as the leather version, March 2, 2011
By

I've had mine since December. The first thing I did was replace the stock insole with a pair of sole ultra footbeds molded to my feet. The sole is comfortable and shock absorbing which is why I bought another pair. These seem to insulate my feet better from the cold than the regular leather ones do. What I have noticed however is the stitching on one of my boots from the eyelets to the sole has begun to unravel. With only 3 months use this shouldn't be happening. I won't buy these again and will go with the regular leather boots next time. I might end up having to replace them much sooner than I'd originally planned on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Depends on what you're looking for..., February 15, 2011
By

If you are looking for more of a work boot than a hiker, then this is for you. I unfortunately was looking for more of a hiker than a work boot. I disagree with another reviewer who pointed out that these were comfortable right out of the box. When I first tried them on I found them to be stiff and not really comfortable at all. Even after several days they are still not all that comfortable. I also found them to be at least a half size (if not a whole size) too large. I normally wear a size 10 1/2 which was what I ordered first, and that pair would have easily fit a size 11. I returned those and ordered a size 10 which would usually be cramped for me but fit fine even with extra thick wool boot socks. These feel much more like wearing a work boot than a hiker, so if you're looking for a work boot that looks like a hiker then this is for you. I was hoping it would wear more like a hiker (like a pair of Merrell's or something), so I was a bit disappointed.
