I've always liked the look of these boots, classic knee-high balmoral crossed with Timberland rugged urban/hiker style. But I missed the boat on getting them in black in the wide foot width when they were first popular, and although I've tried them on wistfully in the regular width several times since, I knew better -- this is a boot designed as much for serious wear as for fashion, and I needed the proper fit to be comfortable in serious use. Timberland offers a nice high toebox but I still really need the extra width in the foot.
So one day I was just surfing around for alternatives, and for some reason Shoe Mall had this boot, in black, in 6.5 Wide. So despite the recession, I ordered them. They arrived yesterday, and I've been wearing them around the house since, because they are so comfortable. And of course because they channel my inner super-heroine! With these boots you can be anyone from Tarzan's Jane Porter through Ripley from Alien. Great boots for a time traveler! Also great boots for a city walker and subway commuter in New England's winters and vernal and autumnal monsoons. I just wish Timberland would make them in Wide more often. Or at least add Wide to the options on its custom version. The current lining material is a bit rough, and although they provide some support, they'll benefit from an arch support insole. Lucky for me, there's room!

I love these boots. The 6.5 D width fits perfectly -- I love Timberland's wide width, and wish more of their boots were available in it -- and they are both sturdy and fashionable, great for commuting on foot and public transportation. The only negative is that the lining fabric is a bit rough, so be sure to wear socks. One great source for socks long enough not to creep southward in these boots is Sockdreams.com -- [...] -- they carry over-the-knee and thigh-high socks in lots of fibers and sizes. I've been wearing the OTK tubes under my new boots for the break-in period and they've been great.

I purchased these boots to wear while motorcycle riding, but find myself wearing them for everyday use, as well! They look pretty saucy with my skinny jeans tucked in, or with tights and a skirt. They are very comfortable and well made, the leather is thick, but soft, and they were broken in within a week. Despite being such a tall boot without zippers, the speed laces make for an an easy time getting them on and off.

My only qualm is that they ran a bit big. I am normally a size 10 womans, and ordered as such, but could probably have gone down a half or even a full size. I also wish the calf and ankle were slightly smaller. I don't consider myself to have narrow calves, (I'm average, maybe on the muscular side at best) but I can lace the front almost completely together, and still have a bit to much extra material in the ankle.

I have the feeling that these boots will last me a number of years, and perhaps hold up even better than the Doc Martens I've had in the past. However, I will definitely get another pair when the day comes, just in a smaller size.

I very rarely buy shoes over the Internet because I like to be able to try them on to make sure they fit and look right on me, but I took the plunge this time around as I'd been looking for a pair of tall boots for the longest time, and I have to say I'm very glad I did. The pair I ordered met my expectations in every way and I have no complaints whatsoever. They're stylish AND comfortable - always a plus in my book.

I must admit that I have almost ALWAYS been a BIG fan of Timberland shoes and boots. I wanted to get me some thing different for my up coming 23rd bday, u guess it I order these boots. I believe the price was reasonable and not to mention the quality material use to make these boots. Word of advice make sure to be certain about what ur shoe size is you don't want to get it too big/small. I found out the hard way and had to send them back to get the correct size "11," they took about a week but they are worth the wait. They jus arrived today and i am satisfied, these boots are sure to bring out that HEROINE in you.

Bought a wide and grateful I did. Boots are a bit stiff... will have to find leather soap I guess to soften the heal area. Just beautiful boots though. I lvoe them.

These are my favorite boots, I wear them at least 5 days a week. They are very sturdy as well as fashionable - I get compliments every time I wear them. They are a little pricey, but my sister has had her pair for a year now and they are still in amazing condition, I see it as an investment, since I won't have to buy new ones next season.

The boots are a surprise for my daughter who is a City View volunteer at a middle school in the South Bronx, NY. I placed the order 12/16 around 6 pm. Realized later that evening that I should have gotten them waterproofed, so I contacted the vendor via email to change order. Had a response by 12/17 am. The boots were delivered today, 12/18, BEFORE noon. Order had been corrected, the boots are gorgeous - my daughter will be home on Monday - Thank you and Merry Christmas to all. Within the boot description it states the boot has Leather Upper, which typically means that the full boot outside of the sole is leather...not so. The boots look cheap and plastic...returned!
