I was looking for a bag that I could use for 14 days or less which has shoulder and waist straps as well as an extension handle and wheels. Ideally the bag could be carried on an airplane. So I ordered this one.

LIKED...Handles on every side. Construction appears very durable. Rolls Smooth and quiet. The handle is a good length for me, 5' 7". Pockets in the right places. Dry/wet top pouch. Hideaway shoulder and belt straps. Like the duffle style access to the main compartment.

DISLIKED...Too tall to legally carry-on an airplane. No true ring to add a lock to the zippers. A little heavier than I expected for its size.

I kept looking for my ideal bag because I know this one will have to be checked. I have since purchased the Doubletrack from North Face which meets all my criteria. I returned the Aviator unused.

I used this bag for a 2 week trip and it was a bit too small and I ended up washing clothes along the way to reduce what I brought with me. On the week-long trip I just took in the summer, the bag was a good size. I think the ideal duration is an extended weekend or for people who travel very light. The number of days would reduce significantly in the winter with bulkier clothing.

The wheels and handles are very solid. There are very many useful pockets, but using the Timbuk2 OCD Packing Cube and some of their other packing bags helped keep things organized.

It's funny to see a spot for a small lock on the zippers because all the external pockets open into the main sections anyway.

Overall I'm happy with the bag. Being able to use it as a backpack was very nice on cobblestone roads in Italy.

the construction is solid, maybe a little too solid, because it is much heavier than a traditional backpack. It performed well over a one month trip and the water resistant material is a nice feature. I wish it were easier to convert to a backpack and back to a rolling bag in a hurry without having to have the straps drag on the ground. You can sort of jury rig this using carabiners or other attachments on the back.

I have yet to be disappointed in timbuk2. They are always innovative and the quality is phenomenal. This bag is no exception

PROS
-Durable. Ballistic nylon and other materials make it water resistant and tough
-Compartment under the flap. I use it for shoes and my toiletry bag, as well as a jacket or anything kind of bulky I want easy access too.
-grab handles and smooth rolling wheels extremely functional.
-Outer pockets are super useful. One on side of bag is great for the waist strap or other reasonably flat or narrow things. Front panel pocket is also accessible via a bigger zipper on the inside of the front panel. Pocket on the flap perfect for my phone, keys, and small moleskine.
-Daisy chain on front. Hard to tell from the pictures, but the strap on the center of the front flap has 2 or 3 sections sewn down! Outside of the airport, I use it to attach everything from smaller bags to a bike helmet.

CONS
-could be a little wider. It's already to tall to be a legal carry on.
-Liner doesn't feel quite as durable as expected. That being said, it hasn't torn yet.

The handle is very sticky and could be difficult to get down. And I'm not sure if it was me or the bag, but the waist strap really didn't do much. I still felt that the weight was on my shoulders and that I had no support from the additional band.

However, the bag itself was good. The handles on all sides is unexpectedly helpful and they are quite strong. There are pockets all over as well that are helpful. The top pocket is fairly useless as it zips over the bend, but the other ones are good and large. I went for a 18 day trip and I could pack enough clothing and shoes to last me with only one laundry stop.

And being able to go from backpack to roller was soo nice.

Too small for our needs. Thought it would store more. Ended up getting the Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tarmac 28 on Amazon since my other luggage was about to fail on our trip and had it mailed to relative we were visiting.

Seems like this is trying to be best of backpack and suitcase, but doesn't cut it in terms of carrying capacity for us.

A great travel bag with wheels and retractable hand. It is different enough from the usual business bags that you can find it easily at the baggage claim.

This is a really great bag. I love the backpack straps. Great for navigating an airport when I needed my hands free to push a baby stroller.

Love this bag. Kind of awkward to use though. It is well made, but stowing and using the shoulder straps is an awkward process.
